DLSU unveils new eco car

THE DLSU Eco Car Team (DLSU-ECT) composed of engineering students who are dedicated to designing and fabricating fuelefficient and eco-friendly vehicles recently launched its newest eco car at the DLSU Henry Sy, Sr. Hall. The vehicle will compete in the annual Shell Eco Marathon (SEM) Asia Competition for the greatest distance travelled with the least amount of energy. Named the DLSU Archer, the vehicle is solar-electric powered with an android-based driver interface. This features a monitoring application on an android phone that shows vehicle information such as speed, battery status, GPS location, and data from the car sensors. It also has a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) based telemetry system that uses 3G networks to send data to an online server which can be accessed through a computer.
DLSU President and Chancellor Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC leads the launching of this years eco car.

The telemetry system is an improvement from last years radio telemetry since no data will be lost in cases where there are obstructions in between the antennas. The DLSU Archer will also have the same cruise control function that helped the DLSU-ECT win the Technical Innovation Award last year.
