1. What is this policy summary?


This is a summary of the key information about Bupa Direct TravelCover. You should read this carefully and keep it in a safe
place afterwards. Please note that it does not contain the full terms and conditions and exclusions of cover which you will find
in the policy wording document. A copy is available on request.

2. Who is providing this insurance policy?


Bupa Direct TravelCover is provided by Bupa Insurance Limited, a subsidiary of The British United Provident Association Limited.
Other services are provided by or via other subsidiary companies.

3. What type of insurance policy is this?


This is a travel policy that, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions contained in the policy wording document, will meet
certain costs that might arise during the course of your travels.
4. What are the significant features and benefits of this policy?
Certain sections of your scheme carry a standard excess or benefit limit, which is applicable per person per claim, unless
otherwise stated. These are set out in the table below. If you have paid the appropriate premium to either increase or waive a
benefit or excess, this will be set out on your policy schedule.

5. What are the other significant exclusions and limitations?


Please refer to pages 21 – 23 of the policy wording, which provides a full list of the policy exclusions applicable to all sections of cover.
1. Any claim caused directly or indirectly from you: -
- having a condition before the policy started (commonly known as a ‘pre-existing medical condition’)
- travelling against the advice of a medical practitioner
- travelling having received a terminal prognosis
- travelling for the purpose of obtaining treatment abroad
- awaiting day-patient, in-patient or out-patient treatment
Unless you have been medically screened and we have accepted and confirmed our acceptance of that medical condition in writing.
2. Any person aged 80 or over unless we have specifically accepted cover, the appropriate premium has been paid and this is
shown on your policy schedule.
3. An insured person taking part in steeplechasing, canyoning, polo, hunting, any professional sport(s), mountaineering (normally
requiring ropes or requiring the services of a guide), pot holing, fighting (except in self-defence), scuba-diving below a depth
of 30 metres, parachuting, racing, speed or endurance tests or practising for such events (other than athletics), or any form
of organised team sport, flying (other than as a fare paying passenger in a regular scheduled airline or licensed charter
aircraft); motorcycling as a rider or passenger (unless wearing a helmet and the rider is a holder of a full and valid motorcycle
licence), winter sports (only available to persons aged under 65 years) unless the appropriate cover has been purchased and
in all circumstances:- off piste skiing unless accompanied by a qualified instructor or guide, snowboarding without a leash or
bindings and protective headgear, ski jumping, ski racing, ski acrobatics, ice hockey, or the use of a bobsleigh, skeleton or
luge. Manual work of any kind.
4. The insured person's suicide, attempted suicide, developing psychiatric, mental or nervous condition(s), anxiety or
depression, intentional self-injury, alcoholism, drug addiction or solvent abuse or any act of self-exposure to danger (except
in an attempt to save human life). The insured person being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
5. The cost of treatment for pregnancy or childbirth within 10 weeks of estimated date of delivery.
6. Any costs you or the insured person would have expected or would have been required to pay, if the event resulting in the
claim had not happened.
7. Travel to areas the Foreign and Commonwealth Office have advised against travelling to.

6. What is the duration of this policy?
1. If you have chosen Essential or Premier Annual TravelCover you will have cover for your trip up to 31 days in a row and a total of
183 days in each annual insurance period.
2. If you have chosen Gold Annual TravelCover you will have cover for your trip up to 91 days in a row and a total of 183 days in each
annual insurance period.
3. If you have chosen Single Trip TravelCover you will only have cover for the period shown on your schedule up to a maximum of 91
days in a row.
4. If you have chosen Premier Annual TravelCover you will automatically have Winter Sports for up to 17 days in each insurance
period.
5. If you have chosen Gold Annual TravelCover you will automatically have Winter Sports for up to 21 days in each insurance period.
6. If you have chosen Premier or Gold Annual TravelCover you will have cover for trips within the UK for three or more consecutive
nights.
7. Please refer to the policy schedule for confirmation of when cover commences and expires.

7. What are the cancellation rights?


If this insurance cover is not suitable, return it to us within 14 days of receipt and providing you have not already taken your trip or made a
claim, we will cancel the policy and refund your premium in full. We cannot refund your premium after this date.
Cancelling your policy after 14 days of receipt: Although we cannot refund your premium after 14 days of receipt, you may cancel your
policy at any time by giving us notice in writing or by telephone. We will cancel your policy on the date we receive your letter or the day you
telephone us.

8. How do I notify you of a claim that I wish to make?

9. How do I make a complaint about this insurance policy?


If we have not been able to resolve a problem and you wish to take your complaint further, you can contact our Quality Manager.

It is rare that we are unable to settle a complaint but if this does happen, you may refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman

10. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme


In the unlikely event that we cannot meet our financial obligations, you may be entitled to compensation from the Financial Services
Compensation Scheme. This will depend on the type of business and the circumstances of your claim. The FSCS may arrange to
transfer your policy to another insurer, provide a new policy or, where appropriate, provide compensation. The first £2,000 of any claim
paid by the FSCS would be met in full and above this amount, 90% of the remainder will be met.
