Lunch Room
A supervised lunch room is available for all IEU students. A microwave is available for students to heat up their lunch.
Mobile Phones
Mobile phones and cameras must be handed in at Student Reception every morning and collected after school.
Bilingual Officers
The school has Bilingual Officers who assist parents to communicate with the school. When you contact the school, please ask to speak to the Bilingual Officer who speaks your language.
Attendance
Students are expected to arrive at school by 8:00am Students arriving late to school must sign in at Student Reception. Students with written permission from parents to leave the grounds between 8:00am and 2:10pm must sign out at Student Reception.

Book Packs
Book Packs for students are available from Student Reception and contain the books and stationery needed for school.
Uniforms
Students must wear a Sanderson Middle School shirt. Shirts can be bought from Student Reception using a Government voucher. For safety reasons, students must wear covered shoes (like sports shoes).

Simple sentences, punctuation and spelling conventions and less common grammar conventions are used. Writing is re-read and edited to revise and make the meaning clear. Simple, compound and complex sentences are written.

Simple sentences, punctuation and spelling conventions are used and simple, compound and complex sentences written. Sequenced ideas, joined by appropriate conjunctions are used. EsseNTial Learning Constructive Learner 2 Description This course focuses on a variety of difficult structures in English grammar which are examined and practised both orally and in written work. A variety of texts are explored, including a shared novel, visual texts, short stories and factual texts including newspapers.

The course involves locating health services by telephone and online; contacting an interpreter service; naming body parts and aspects of nutrition and choosing a healthy diet. Description This course gives an introduction to basic maths facts. It focuses on the English words and phrases that are essential in the area of maths. Topics include, counting and recognising numerals, pronunciation and understanding quantities, putting numbers in order, place value and ordinal numbers and multiplication and division. Outcomes Learning Technology Communication EsseNTial Learning Creative Learner 3 Description This course focuses on the use of Learning Technology to create and share information. A range of tools and applications to present data are used along with basic word processing conventions. Software is used to express words and pictures.
Outcomes Learning Technologies (R2, S2) EsseNTial Learning Constructive Learner 2 Description This course develops skills in using the Internet to research information and in using vocabulary and simple sentence structures to communicate what has been researched and how the information was obtained. Issues of plagiarism, recognising ownership of text and identifying reliable websites are also explored. Assessment Evidence of learning is provided through: selecting correct terminology in cloze exercises creating an electronic presentation on plagiarism extracting information from websites, and presenting it as bullet point notes using a word processor
Description This course covers the basic scientific text structures and language, and science safety, equipment and investigation. After doing this course, students may proceed to other science courses.
