COVINGTON MUD BOG Driver Safety Regulations 2013

i Mud Racing is a growing sport, as track officials we cannot be expected to have infinite foresight, therefore be advised that just because a specific item is not covered by a written rule, it may or may not be considered legal, and depending on the circumstance it may or may not change the class your vehicle falls into. Track officials will have the final word should any issues arise. Any updated rules supersede & prevail over all previous written or un-written rules. Drivers will be informed of any changes in or additions to the rules at the mandatory drivers safety meeting. The rules and or regulations set forth are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the conditions of all events. And by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations They are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, a spectator or an official. The race director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of these specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL. There will be NO REFUNDS given to drivers if you are disqualified and/or you miss your scheduled event. Close observance of the standards set forth in this rule book is an important fundamental.

CONDUCT:

Drivers are responsible for the actions of their pit crew


Arguing with the techs/ officials will not be tolerated. Threats and/or profanity directed at any CMB tech, official or other drivers and/or pit crew may result in the offending driver being disqualified. Anyone engaged in fighting will be asked to leave the premises. NO ALCOHOL or drugs of any kind allowed in the pits or staging area.Violation = disqualification If a driver is found to be intoxicated-he/or she will be disqualified. NO high speed driving or Hot rodding will be tolerated anywhere except on the race track. NO WARNINGS will be given. This is grounds for immediate disqualification. Drivers will be disqualified for Recklessness or dangerous behavior II. RACE WEAR: A flame retardant suit is recommended for all alcohol and nitrous vehicles. Long pants,sleeved shirt and closed toe shoes required. Stock class may differ. Eye protection required for all open windshield vehicles and all ATV's III.VEHICLE SAFETY REGULATIONS: ALL Vehicles must have their number on either the front passenger or rear passenger window. Numbers will be issued on a first come first serve basis. ALL Vehicles must operate in a safe manner at all times. You can be disqualified for operating any vehicle in an unsafe manor or showing poor sportsmanship. All vehicles must pass a safety inspection. The track official has the final approval on a vehicles legality and safety for all classes. The tech has the right to call for a re-tech or to disqualify any vehicle they feel does not meet the safety requirements. Refusal to re-tech will be automatic disqualification Fuel system & tank must be secured, with fuel caps and in safe Condition. Drivers and co-drivers in all classes must wear seat belts and helmets. Fire extinguisher required in all classes. (approved and working) No loose parts on vehicle (i.e. fenders,bumpers,lights etc.) No loose items or debris in cab or bed of vehicle while racing. All ballast must be secured. No liquid or loose ballast. Suspension,steering and brakes must be in safe working condition. Brakes must be capable of locking wheels Battery may be relocated but must in an approved box and securely

mounted..
ALL vehicles above stock class must have a roll cage. No threaded pipe or lap weld pipe is allowed. (Round tube only) ALL vehicles must have a fire wall that separates the driver from the engine

compartment. No hub caps or beauty rings allowed, except in stock class. Each wheel must have all of its lug nuts in place and tightened. Trans blanket or shield recommended for all automatic vehicles Kill switch recommended for all vehicles (except for stock) Please read COVINGTON MUD BOG --CLASS SPECS for more specific vehicle guidelines and to determine which of our 4 classes your vehicle falls into. IV. COMPETITION: All drivers MUST register during registration time(registration is 2 hours prior to race time), however if you register 30 minutes before scheduled race time, it will be considered "late registration" and a $10.00 late fee will be added to the entry fee. Once the races have started- NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Any driver17 and under must have a legal guardian present and must have written permission from guardian to compete. ALL drivers MUST register and attend the safety meeting. The driver safety meeting is MANDATORY and is held 30 minutes prior to the first race. All drivers are responsible for having their vehicles teched prior to racing. Teching begins when the gates open and ends 30 minutes before first race. Must have 2 officials to tech vehicles. Techs will determine if an entry is safe to race. All events are run by classes. Once you are called to race,you have 2 minutes to stage. If a contestant encounters mechanical trouble, you must inform track officials before your opponent proceeds to stage area in order to be moved back to the end of the lineup. Once your vehicle is in the staging lane, only the driver and/or co-driver are allowed in the vehicle. Absolutely no more than 2 people (driver+1) will be allowed in a vehicle during a race. If your vehicle breaks down at staging, the driver has 3 minutes to get it fixed or disqualification will occur. Once your vehicle is staged and the stage light comes on, you cannot back up and restage unless signaled by a track official. Drivers must be seated behind the steering wheel of their vehicle anytime that the engine is running. This includes the pit area,staging lanes, turn around and return roads. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. O MUD PIT: Timed or Distance event --Driver is given 3 minutes timed in the pit, if driver hasn't made it out, officials will shut down the vehicle and you will be pulled out by the tractor. At that time, officials will measure the distance. Distance measurement will be from the starting line to the final resting place of the center of the front tire. If your vehicle gets stuck in the pit,you will be responsible for hooking up your vehicle ,once connected you must put your vehicle in neutral and let the tractor pull you out. O SIDE x SIDE: Timed event--Lane Choice-(even numbers,lane 1) (odd numbers,lane 2). Coin toss, 2nd round If during a race neither vehicle crosses the finish line under its own power, that race will be re-ran at a later time.

Any vehicle crossing into the center of track,going out of bounds,striking the guard rail and/or timing equipment will be disqualified for that run. As soon as you cross the finish line you must immediately start deceleration. No running out the back door. Vehicles must stop immediately upon signal from an official. In the event that there is more than one violation during a pass,the violation that occurred first will be the one that causes disqualification for that round. A speed of 10 MPH or slower will be maintained in the pit area at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Drivers will be disqualified for recklessness and/or Dangerous behavior. Drivers are responsible for ALL damage to their vehicles. All vehicles must be removed from the competition area within 24 hours of the event ending.

PAYOUTS: All drivers will be charged an entry fee to compete. Each class will pool its collected money to form one big pot. Any class with 3 drivers or less will payout to only 1st place "winner take all" All classes with 4 or more drivers will pay (1st place-60%) and (2nd place-40%) of collected total. Remember the more trucks that compete,the larger the payouts are! Bring your friends!! Mud Bog racing is a hazardous activity. Being such, it is expected that all contestants and support personnel realize these dangers and take all necessary precautions to minimize these dangers. Participation in the COVINGTON MUD BOG is VOLUNTARY. If the driver feels that he or she does not have enough training or experience to operate a vehicle in the mud, he or she is highly encouraged to refrain from entering the competition. Covington Mud Bog, its staff, sponsors, or any one else involved with the Mud Bog WILL NOT be held responsible for thefts, accidents, deaths, injuries, vehicle damage, or any other property or personal loss associated with this event. All participants will be expected to have read and understand the above disclaimer and all the rules. They agree to follow all rules and obey the track official's rulings. They will not hold Covington Mud Bog, its employees, sponsors, and affiliates responsible for any damage or injuries that are suffered or inflicted by or from their participation in this voluntary Mud Bog event. Participants also understand that there is a possibility that their vehicle or other personal property will be damaged by participating in this event, and they will not hold Covington Mud Bog or any one involved with this event responsible for said damage. All drivers will be expected to sign a liability waiver before being allowed to compete.
