I. II. III. IV.

Ultra Fast Earthing Switch type UFES New active internal arc protection by ABB
Basic system:
One electronic for reliable detection of an internal arc by monitoring of light and current
3 primary switching elements for initiation of a 3phase short-circuit earthing in parallel to the internal arc
Ultra Fast Earthing Switch type UFES New active internal arc protection by ABB
Functional principle:
The system bypasses the uncontrolled energy release of an internal arc into a defined and controlled bolted connection of all 3 phases to earth potential
Elimination of the internal arc by resulting breakdown of the arc voltage Extinction of the internal arc well before the first peak of the fault current ( 4 ms after fault detection)
