Designed by Melanie Greseth & Joanie Holton Finished Quilt Size: 42-1/2 X 45 Be sure to read through instructions before beginning. Cutting instructions include 1/4 seam allowance. Yardage is based on 42 of usable fabric width. All strips are cut across the width of fabric (WOF) unless otherwise stated. Press all seams as you assemble your quilt. Border lengths given are exact measurements. You may want to cut borders slightly longer to allow for variations in seams. 1-1/2 yard

Repeat with remaining D squares and C strip. Sew strip to the bottom of quilt center. Press seam toward C and trim. Border #2: Sew (1) E strip to the right and (1) E strip to the left sides of quilt center. Press seam toward E and trim even with quilt center. Four-Patch Corner Blocks: Sew (2) G squares together. Repeat to make (8) sets. Sew (2) sets together to make four-patch block.

FUSSY CUTTING Center Rectangle: CUT FIRST Choose area of doll checkerboard that you would like for your quilt center and mark with chalk. (3 rows with 4 squares.) Fussy cut A rectangle. Patchwork prints: Choose prints within doll checkerboard that you would like for your Border #1 corner blocks and Border #2 four-patch squares and mark with chalk. Cut squares. Borders with Corner Blocks Border #1: Sew (1) B strip to the right and (1) B strip to the left sides of quilt center. Press seam toward B and trim even with quilt center. Sew (1) D square to each end of (1) C strip and press seam. Sew strip to the top of quilt center. Press seam toward C and trim.

Sew (1) four-patch block to each end of (1) F strip. Repeat to make a second strip set. Sew strip set to the top of quilt center. Press seam toward border and trim. Sew second strip set to the bottom of quilt center. Press seam toward border and trim. Finishing Layer quilt top, batting and backing piece, wrong sides of fabrics both toward batting and baste. Hand quilt, machine quilt or tie as desired. Sew H strips together into one continuous binding strip, iron in half lengthwise and sew to raw edge of quilt top. Turn over raw edges and hand stitch to back of quilt.
