Special Services Coming

In a world where it is becoming increasingly harder to slow down, and just take some time to _______________ {insert your favorite activity here}, I often wonder how much time this leaves for our gracious, loving and deserving God. It is with this in mind that I am excited to tell you about a service that will be happening once a month for the next four months (July, August, September, October). You will find a space in this service where we can come together to lift our voice to God for longer than 10 minutes. It will be in this space where we can lift our prayers up to God for longer than a few minutes. You can take time to slow down and focus on just being in Gods presence. Each service will be rooted in a letter of the old prayer tool, ACTS (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication), with extended times of worship through song and prayer, coupled with an experiential worship element, all in a living room environment. Be listening on Sunday mornings for date and time for each event, and we hope you will take the time to slow down and join us in a sacred moment.

Our kids ministry is growing! We are excited each Sunday to welcome new families into our community. We are also excited this summer to welcome at least 3 new babies that will be born in July & August to PCC Families. In order to truly welcome all this new life, we will need to expand our nursery team by at least 3 new volunteers. Nursery volunteers serve one Sunday a month, during the 10:30 service. Its an awesome way to serve our families and have the joy of holding and loving a beautiful young baby. For more information about this ministry, contact Vikki Randall at vrandall@pasadenacovenant.org.

Helping hands are needed in two areas:

The Worship Design team needs help with staging the sanctuary: changing the sanctuary banners, changing table fabrics and candles, carrying potted plants into the sanctuary or narthex, removing spent flowers or dead leaves from the potted plants, etc. You dont need to be a floral arranger or decorator to help (but if youd like to help in those areas, that would be great, too).

The Hospitality Team, in charge of Hospitality time after the worship service, needs help with arranging some of the food on trays, putting food into bowls, cutting muffins and bagels, carrying trays to the tables, mixing lemonade or ice tea, etc. You dont need to be a world class baker to make Hospitality an inviting time for others (although youd be welcome if you like to bake).

If you can help with staging the sanctuary , please contact Joanne Doyle at (818) 353-1853. If you can help with Hospitality, call Nancy Stuckey at (626) 791-7210. Not sure if this is something youd like to do? Summer is a great time to try out new things without any long term commitments. You might even discover that you enjoying helping in this way.

Please help us gather supplies for our two big summer outreach ministries-- Family Camp and Jump Start. Donations can be left in the basket in the narthex (lobby) of the church Here's a partial list of what is needed: For Jump Start (back-to-school day-camp August 5-9) gently used or new children's books in good condition school & art supplies of all sorts gently used or new backpacks bags of chips fresh fruit or veggies (please bring weekend of Aug. 4th only)

Cross-Cultural Communication Specialists Praise & Prayer Requests

Tim Hsieh, member of Pasadena Covenant Church and one of our cross-cultural workers, shares how the Lord is leading his family into a new location: Turning in my Flip-Flops for Fleece I never thought this day would come - that I would leave L.A. I have spent the last 35 years in L.A. (moving from Iowa and Taiwan). But we believe that the Lord is calling the Hsiehs to the Seattle area. I have been invited by InterVarsity in the Northwest to lead their Community College Planting Initiative. There are 34 community colleges and technical schools in the state of Washington and over 180,000 students - that is more than all the students at all public and private 4-year schools combined. I am super excited to see the movement of God spread across these schools, and to see students call Jesus their Lord and Savior. My 14 years of experience - primarily on commuter and community colleges - will certainly help me in this new role. But I also have much to learn, like, how to do daytime ministry in the rain?! I feel like a missionary being sent to foreign place. I will need to learn a whole new culture (famed Northwest independence) and a new physical climate (always cloudy with a chance of rain) and spiritual climate (highly unchurched). I will also need an entire new wardrobe. No more shorts and flip-flops every day! I am so excited because the Lord has great things in store for Jess also. She has already taken a job at her corporate headquarters in Redmond and is excited to continue to develop in her career, as well as be a person of salt and light in the corporate world. Zac is also excited to for the new adventure. He is most excited about buying rain boots, jumping into puddles and seeing active volcanoes. Please pray for us as we transition in the following ways: -Pray for all the logistics of the move. We are in escrow on our current place in Pasadena and we found an apartment to rent in Old Town Bellevue. Pray that the Lord will orchestrate all the logistics and that we would find a new community, church and elementary school for Zac. -Pray for divine connections with students, faculty, administrators, local pastors and volunteers. -Pray for new roles and teammates. -Pray I would build trust quickly and be able to use my gifts and experiences to move the kingdom forward. -Pray for Jess also as she continues to be a Kingdom presence and influence in the marketplace. -Pray that ministry partners will continue their generous support and pray also for new partners in the Northwest. Our new address will be: Tim, Jessica and Zac Hsieh 10011 NE 1st St. #E204 Bellevue, WA 98004
