Romans Chapter 5:1-11

Because of Jesus Ministries BecauseofJesus.com

The Benefits of being righteous (Jesus) Conscious I. I have peace with God Rom 5:1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. NLT What has Jesus done for us? Rom 4:23 And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn't just for Abraham's benefit. It was recorded Rom 4:24 for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in Him, the One who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. Rom 4:25 He was handed over to die because of our sins, and He was raised to life to make us right with God. NLT Rom 4:25 Who was betrayed and put to death because of our misdeeds and was raised to secure our justification (our acquittal), [making our account balance and absolving us from all guilt before God]. AMP He died to set us free from the penalty of our sins: shame, guilt, and condemnation 2. He rose again to secure forever our righteousness: qualifying us for His promises
1.

Because of what Jesus did for us in making us innocent, and free from all guilt before God, we can have perfect peace with God The word peace in this verse comes from the Greek word G1515 . According to the Strongs concordance it means: (to join); peace (literally or figuratively); by implication prosperity: one, peace, quietness, rest, + set at one again. Peace means: to be bound, joined with God as one. It means to be assured, confident, and secure in the love and care of God. -practical word studies in the NT The first benefit of being made righteous by faith, instead of works, is peace with God. Peace is the fruit of relating to God on the basis of faith in what Jesus did for us instead of what we do for Him. Those who think they must perform up to some standard to be approved by God will never experience true peace. They will always wonder whether their doing enough to qualify for His favor and blessings. We were incapable of living holy enough to please God before we were saved, and we are incapable of living holy enough to please God now that we are saved (Heb 11:6). We were saved by faith, and we have to continue to walk with God by faith (Col 2:6). Not understanding this has caused many

Christians who love God not to enjoy the peace that was provided for them through faith in Jesus. This is the Gospel of peace (Lu 2:14, Ro 10:15, and Eph 6:15).- Andrew Wommack Unrighteous (self) conscious= Gods opinion of me changes based on my behavior = fear Righteous (Jesus) conscious: My Fathers good opinion of me never changes because of what Jesus did for me = Peace

Isa 54:9-10 "This exile is just like the days of Noah for me: I promised then that the waters of Noah would never again flood the earth. I'm promising now no more anger, no more dressing you down. The Message 9 I swear that I will never again be angry and punish you. NLT 10 Isa 54:10 For even if the mountains walk away and the hills fall to pieces, My love won't walk away from you, my covenant commitment of peace won't fall apart." The GOD who has compassion on you says so. The Message

II.

I stand secure in His grace = peace

Rom 5:2 Through Him also we have [our] accessby faith into this grace (state of God's favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God. AMP Grace: From G5463; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, joy liberality, pleasure- Strongs Hope: G1680 From elpo which is a primary word (to anticipate, usually with pleasure); expectation or confidence- Strongs A confident expectation of good Glory of God: doxa (G1391), "glory" primarily signifies an opinion, the honor resulting from a good opinion. It is used of the nature and acts of God in self-manifestation, i.e., what He essentially is and does- Vines New Testament

Unrighteous (self) conscious: Im not sure of Gods opinion of me. Im not sure He will help me and take care of me. Righteous (Jesus) conscious: Through Jesus, I have access by faith into this grace (the power and favor of God) in which I firmly stand. And I rejoice in my confident expectation of experiencing and enjoying my Fathers good opinion of me- the manifestation of who He isand who I am in Him. So I can rejoice when I face trials because I know how dearly my Father loves me= Peace

III.

Rom 5:3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. Rom 5:4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. NLT Rom 5:5 Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us. AMP Rom 5:5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love. NLT

Confident hope of Salvation: soteria (G4991) the present experience of God's power to deliver from the bondage
of sin, inclusively, to sum up all the blessings bestowed by God on men in Christ through the Holy Spirit, (vines New Testament)

For the righteous, trials develop endurance, strength of character, and confident hope of salvation (the manifestation of Gods promise) in us- We can rejoice knowing our Father will demonstrate His salvation in every trial we face.-He is working everything together for our good When we are self (unrighteous) conscious, we focus on what we did wrong, when we are Jesus (righteous) conscious we focus on what Jesus did to make us right and qualify us for His salvation in every situation This hope of salvation I have in Jesus will not lead to disappointment because I know how dearly my Father loves me When we are righteous (Jesus) conscious we live free from shame, deception, and disappointment during our trials because we are secure in His love and we have a confident expectation of good coming out of every difficult situation we face. See Psalm 112:6-8 & Psalm 34:17-19; John 16:33

Psa 112:6 Those who are righteous will be long remembered. Psa 112:7 They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. Psa 112:8 They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. NLT

Righteous (Jesus) conscious: Father, I know you love me and even this will work out for my good. Jesus you overcame this for me. When we believe that God loves us and we are righteous because of our faith in Him, and not because of our performance for Him, then we rejoice--not only in the good times, but also in the hard times. Our faith remains steadfast. However, those who trust in their own efforts will be devastated in times of trouble because they will know they are getting what they deserve, and they will feel that they have to clean up their act before they can expect any help. Their attention will be on self instead of Jesus, the Author and Finisher of their faith (Heb 12:2). Paul continued this same thought on through Ro 5:10. In 5:6-8, he illustrated how great the love of God was for us in that He died for us when we were ungodly. Then he drew a conclusion by way of comparison: If God could work in his life to bring him to justification while he was a sinner, then how much more, now that he was reconciled to God, will God work whatever comes against him for his good!-Andrew Wommack A trial is a circumstance that looks the opposite of what God says is true about us- a temptation to believe a lie over the truth Trials or Trouble: 1. Financial trouble 2. symptoms of sickness 3. trouble with your Children My Fathers view or opinion-His glory II Corinthians 9:8 Isaiah 53:4,5 Isaiah 54:13

Trials or trouble 4. People saying negative things about you 5. Friends betraying or leaving you 6. difficult relationships 7. decisions to make 8. strife or depression in your home 9. disapproval of someone

My Fathers view or opinion- His glory Isaiah 54:17 Hebrews 13:5-6 II Timothy 2:23-26 NLT Proverbs 16:3 Proverbs 3:33: Isa 32:17-19 II Corinthians 5:21 AMP Psalm 34:17-19; I Corinthians 10:13

10. any negative circumstance or temptation

How do I know for sure that God loves me personally? God proved His love for me by making me righteous in Jesus! Rom 5:6 While we were yet in weakness [powerless to help ourselves], at the fitting time Christ died for the ungodly. Rom 5:7 Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor someone might even dare to die. Rom 5:8 But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us. Rom 5:9 Therefore, since we are now justified (acquitted, made righteous, and brought into right relationship with God) by Christ's blood, how much more [certain is it that] we shall be saved by Him from the indignation and wrath of God. Rom 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, it is much more [certain], now that we are reconciled, that we shall be saved (daily delivered from sin's dominion) through His [resurrection] life. Rom 5:11 Not only so, but we also rejoice and exultingly glory in God [in His love and perfection] through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom we have now received and enjoy [our] reconciliation. AMP How can I be absolutely sure my Father loves me? Even when I was a sinner, Jesus died so that I could be righteous. The gift of righteousness forever proves His great love for me! The revelation of righteousness as a free gift is what has forever solitified in my heart that I am truly loved by Jesus and my Heavenly Father. My circumstances do not determine Gods love for me. His gift of righteousness proves His love for me! I never have to wonder again. I can live loved and free when I live righteousness (Jesus) conscious knowing He is at work on my behalf! I am powerless to save myself and when I realize that and turn to Jesus in every trial, I will experience His salvation in every area of my life.
