Teaching Biomedical Concepts with NI Multisim Resources

Overview Biomedical engineering is a highly interdisciplinary subject that features diverse subfields and groups and is influenced by a variety of engineering and medical fields. For many biomedical engineering majors, the first introduction to making measurements from the body is through their bioinstrumentation course. In this course, students are often exposed to the design, simulation, and prototyping of components found in medical devices such as an instrumentation amplifier or interfacing with sensors. This document examines how Multisim in combination with other National Instruments hardware and software fosters learning and guides student exploration of biomedical circuit concepts. Example Code Download the following Multisim files to explore how you can use Multisim to teach basic bioinstrumentation concepts. Hearing Aid Example in Multisim

Begin exploring the use of op-amps filters circuit design of a simple hearing aid with Multisim and the NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS). Download the circuit file

Electrocardiogram Signals in Multisim

Simulate a electrocardiogram (ECG) circuit in Multisim and have students build, test, record, and analyze their ECGs. Download the lab

Wheatstone Bridge with Multisim

Browse and download comprehensive lab material written using the Xilinx ISE tools and Verilog for the NI Digital Electronics FPGA Board. Download the circuit file

Multisim Simulation with an ECG Amplifier

Using this unique LabVIEW VI, you can define a human ECG signal and amplify it with a circuit created in Multisim. Download this LabVIEW custom VI
