An Integrated Health Reform Agenda

From 1989-2005, the Filipino government has undertaken a series of reforms aimed at improving the health sector and devolving responsibility for health services to local governments. Throughout the process, Management Sciences for Health (MSH) has offered its extensive experience in the Philippines health sector to policymakers who endeavor to make the health system both efficient and responsive to population needs. Local government units (LGU) are now taking the lead in managing the health system in the Philippines. Under LEAD for Health (2003-2006), LGUs are MSHs clients, and are working to improve local systems.
