Successfully orchestrated ODUs first $1 million research earmark, for tributyl tin detection and treatment in ship dry dock operations.

1984-1993 Chairman, Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Department, Old Dominion University. Department consisted of 21 full-time faculty, five staff, approximately 400 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students. Offering B.S.M.E., as well as M.S., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering and engineering mechanics. Funded research volume exceeded $2.0 million per year after 1988. Department graduated seven Ph.D.'s per year from 1989 until 1993. Department was one of the top three providers of articles to the AIAA Journal, between 1990 and 1993. Produced University's first NSF Presidential Young Investigator in 1985. Designated NASA/USRA Center for Advanced Space System Design in 1986. Authored Old Dominion's part of the successful Virginia Space Grant Proposal to NASA in 1989. 1983-84 Acting Dean of Engineering, Old Dominion University. I have consulted on a variety of litigation cases (averaging less than one case per year).
