Health / Fitness / Medical Fitness Certificate

You must be physically fit for Kailash Yatra. We do not need any medical certificate if you are 70 years old or below. However, it is better for everyone to take an advice from your family doctor for traveling in high altitude. Nowadays, there are hospitals available at Tibet if in case of emergency. Please READ, if you are above 70 years old: Yatris should obtain a letter FROM YOUR DOCTOR ADDRESSED AS "WHOMSOEVER IT MAY CONCERN This is to confirm the physical fitness of Mr / Mrs... & I have no concern to my clients' participation in the Kailash tour of (date). Step 1. For a Group Tour, we will apply for Tibet Permit for which we will use your passport copies that you have sent us. Please note that Tibet Authority does not gives us fixed date to approve the Permit. However, usually it takes 8 days and not more than 15 days. Step 2. As soon as we get the Tibet Travel Permit approved, we will let you know. For Indian Passport Holder: We will ask you to send your original passport to our Delhi agent with their contact details. Our Delhi agent collects all group's passport and need to apply at once since it is a Group Paper Visa. To get the Group Paper Visa, it usually takes 3 days. For Non-Indian Passport Holder: We will apply for Chinese Visa when you arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal. Step 3. For Indian Passport Holder Only: Once the Visa is approved, we will send you the Passport back to you by Courier. IMPORTANT NOTE: Sometimes we may NOT have enough time since you may have to Fly to Kathmandu or you might plan to fly early. In such case, we will give you passport in Kathmandu, Nepal upon landing. Indian National does not need Passport to come to Kathmandu since you do not need Nepalese Visa. You just need to carry Voter ID Card or any Indian Government issued Identity card. For Foreigners, they can get their Nepali Visa upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport.

I already have Chinese Visa stamped in my passport, do I need Visa again?

If you plan to enter Tibet from Nepal, you must get your Tibet group visa from the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu. Whether you already have a Chinese visa or not, a Tibet group visa is compulsory for all tourists entering Tibet from Nepal.

Tibet Travel Bureau (TTB) & CISPC

We are an authorized agent of China, India Pilgrimage Service Center (CIPSC) CIPSC (China Indian Pilgrims Service Center) has a monopoly over the rights to handle travel arrangements & fix rates for the Indian pilgrims in Tibet side. CIPSC has recently increased rate because of the international petroleum price rises suddenly, US dollar largely depreciation, the cost of domestic labor's goes up, and commodity prices are rising All arrangements within Tibet are solely at the discretion of the China Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) & for Indian nationals, China India Pilgrim Service Center (CIPSC), both are government organizations, and we have no control over the quality of vehicles or facilities. TTB can deny permit or even stop giving permits from time to time. We have seen this in the past.

General Considerations when Packing: Keep the weight and bulk down to a minimum. Baggage allowance on most international flights is 20 Kg's/44 lbs.. Most people tend to bring more clothes than they do actually need. You will only need one change of clothes for Kathmandu. On trek it is important to dress in layers. When it is hot you will only be wearing a base layer, when it gets colder you can add to this until you are wearing most of your clothes! It is advisable to carry your stuff in a duffel bag rather than suitcase or other normal bags. What kind of items to carry while travelling? You have to take warm clothes like sweater, trousers, thermo-coat, cap, trekking shoes, high-neck, gloves. We recommend that you bring the following items to make your journey more comfortable clothing for both extremes of climate and temperature. While driving to Kailash, it will be warm inside the vehicle and light clothing will be required. But as soon as you step out of the vehicle, warm clothing will be required to keep off the cold winds of the Tibetan Plateau. Evening will be generally cold and warm clothing will be required. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2013/2014 | Guidelines

A Divine Spiritual Journey to the Abode of God...

Prefer doing Kora during Full-moon

Highest Altitude during Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

Our journey will take us from 1300m to 5700meters. The lowest point will be Kathmandu, our starting and ending point at 1300m, and the highest point will be Dolma La Pass, on the second day of our Parikrama around Mt. Kailash, at approximately 5700m height. After our entry into Tibet we will be at 3800m for two days for acclimatization, then climb to 4400m, then 4600 around Lake Manasarovar. On second day of the Parikrama around Kailash we will be at almost 5000m. Around 10 days of our time in Tibet will be at an altitude above 4000m.

Altitude Sickness
As participants are traveling over high terrain, participants are likely to experience symptoms and discomfort of altitude sickness (headache, loss of appetite, nausea, exhaustion, sleeplessness, breathlessness etc.) until their body adjusts to the elevation. This can take a couple of days or more depending on an individual. For this reason, we have made it mandatory and fixed itinerary to stay at the place above 9000ft for at least 3 nights before moving on to the higher altitudes.

Drinking Water
Yes, during the entire Yatra we will provide you free supply of Mineral Water. We will carry the 20 liter mineral water jars during the trip.

What kind of food?

We will have Pure Vegetarian food during the entire Yatra and also in Nepal.

Is Internet connection available in Tibet?

Yes! At limited places. Like in Nyalam and Saga it is possible to have internet connection.

Can I book a pony for one day Parikrama only?

No. The rule of the Pony owner and Porter Union there is clear that Pony and/or Porter can be hired for full three days and not partial trip. Also the money has to be paid in advance and no refund is possible if you return back in two days time instead of doing the full three days Parikrama. However, sometimes it is possible to get a pony/porter for just one day during Parikrama; the price will be exorbitant though.

Temperature / Weather

stuffy inside the vehicle as the windows have to be kept closed due to dust. However outside it may be very cold and windy. So while you are inside vehicle during driving days keep your down jacket handy when you step out of the car. Inside the vehicle you may need to take off your warm clothes.

Dip in the Holy Mansarovar lake

Yes, of course! However, it is advisable to take the cold bath in the lake after the Parikrama is over and we are returning back to Kathmandu.

Collect water from the holy lake

If anybody wishes to collect the water himself/herself, then on our return trip after parikrama when we stop at the holy lake you can do so.

Emergency facilities
Our staff will carry Oxygen Cylinder, Oxygen Cans, extra Diamox tablets, basic medical kit and some medical steroids syringes. Also near Mansarovar Kailash area there is a hospital, some 60 Km away, with medical facility for high altitude problems.

In case of any emergency

Email address of the emergency contact that you have given will be updated of the progress of our yatra. Also each member in the group will be given email address of the travel agent where your family members can convey urgent message.. We will also carry a mobile with China SIM card in Tibet. This number you can convey to your family members and they can call you on that number in emergency.

Puja and havan, fire ceremony

Since the holy Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva, at the North Face of Kailash you can do puja waiving light using the Shiva Shadakshara Mantra, that is the expanded form giving the full meaning and beauty of the six syllable Mantra Om Na-Mah Shi-Va-Ya. We recommend the group members to bring some incense, havan samagri, wood sticks, bilva patra, camphor, gopi chandan, dry fruits ( nuts) for prasad.

Souvenirs from Tibet

Normally during our trip we will meet lot of ladies selling necklace, yak bone items, crystal mala, precious stone items, apart from Buddhist worship items.
