OMG, pirates! Headlines around the
country squealed with glee as our
Navy SEALS took out the Somalian
baddies, freed the newest American
hero and helped PrezO’ with the
"dodging of a PR bullet," as USA
Today put it. Meanwhile, "Pirates
around the Indian Ocean vowed
revenge," the New York Daily News
chimed in, letting us know that we
could have an exciting new war on
our hands, as speculation continues
that at least one of the old ones will be
cancelled (someday). And if you think
this sounds kind of like reality TV,
well, it is. E! Online reported that
"Spike TV has closed a deal with the
U.S. Navy to chronicle pirate-hunting
special forces in a new reality show,
'Pirate Hunters: USN.'"
So fasten your seatbelts, folks. The
“War on Pirates” is an idea that's win-
win-win an’ win some’ore as Military
recruitment will soar, the dying MS
media will rejuvenate (or at least go
into remission) as it reports the play-
by-play and a depressed, fragmented
nation will reunite!

you may have forgotten.
FACT: A young man is elected to
the state legislature. His wife is given
a make believe job as director of
"community services" for a large hos-
pital that receives state funds. The
young man runs successfully for the
U.S. Senate. His wife's salary is
tripled because the hospital receives
more federal than state funds.
The young man leaves the senate
for another position. His wife no
longer needs the "job" -- and the hos-
pital decides that it no longer needs a
director of "community services."
Instead of facing a criminal investiga-
tion for accepting bribes and illegal
political contributions, the young man
and his wife are lauded for their "serv-
ice." How bad has the venality
become? How ingrained is the

Eviction: Up Close & Personal

People all over the Country are
being foreclosed on and forcibly evict-
ed from their homes. Details of the
forcible eviction itself never make the
news which of course makes it ever
more important that it should. It is of
course a sign of the times which will
undoubtedly continue to worsen in the
foreseeable future. This little tale
comes from a single personal experi-
ence, and how one chooses to handle
a forcible eviction procedure, or not,
will of course be left to the reader.
knowing it's coming and dealing
with it while it's in progress are two
very different things. We had known ir
was coming, but we weren't aware of
the timeline. At the eviction hearing,
the Magistrat issued misleading infor-
mation or we would have otherwise
simply not been there, sound asleep,
when a BC deputy by the name of
"Jimmy", came crashing in like a one-
man swat team. A "rude awakening"
indeed.
We had for several years been leas-
ing a 4 bedroom house in North
Forest owned by Fred and Lonnie
Goulet. (Pronounced Goo-lay.) While
dropping off the lease check for
January -$1850.- we opened rent
renegotiations with the Gou's stateing
that the current rent was too much for
too little and that we'd have to relo-
cate to more affordable houseing
unless the rent was reduced. Mrs.
Gou became recalcitrant re. the pro-
posal and left a note in the mailbox
the following day declaring that we
had 60 days to vacate. No discussion,
no negotion, refusing to budge. We
discovered that the Gou's had refi-
nanced the mortgage in February-08,
for a half a million-plus, -upside down-
which we further opine pretty much
explained their dismay. Like so many,
the Gou's were laboring under the
false impression that the housing
boom would never end. Since then
however, it has of course and, in our
opinion, their hubris as well.
The Scheme Of Things
In February, we nevertheless drop-
ped off a check for $1500.00. The
next day, Mrs. Gou came to the house
and, in our opinion, demanded hyster-
ically that we be out that afternoon.
We quietly informed Mrs. Gou that
she was being silly and that it was a
simple take it or leave it offer and that
if she wasn't going to take it, then she
should leave it. As she refused to
leave the check, in effect taking it, we
then elected to inform Mrs. Gou that
we would furthermore be applying our
$1750. deposit to the March rent and
would be out by April first. Mrs. Gou
left an unhappy camper and the next
day initiated the eviction.
Lest we be accused of complaining
about the cards we were dealt, per-
haps a little history is in order to clari-
fy our decision to ignore the ultima-
tum. Before taking the house at 13
Sandpiper in June of 2006, we
stressed the importance of having a
quiet enviornment in which to live and
work which Mr. Goulet assured us of
even though he knew quite well that a
weekly rental was in the works next
door. Within 2 months the construc-
tion began which would for the next 3
months result in the daily endurance
of hammering, sawing and digging
machines grinding away beginning
daily at 7am. Then came the weekly
renters with all night parties etc.
Also worthy of note was the 2 weeks
spent without an AC, in June no less,
which came at a time when the
Goulet's were "out of town". After sev-
eral messages left at their residence
were ignored, 3 days passed before
we elected to call in a repair service
which resulted in a total of 2 weeks
before the AC was back up.
Ultimately, the Gou's refused to pay
the repair bill claiming that it was us
that had “made the call" and that they
"had a service repair contract
arranged with a different company"
which they claimed "relieved them of
the obligation". We kept the documen-
tation from Gray Heating and Air.
And then there were the screens
Mr. Goulet promised that never mate-
rialized which ultimately resulted in
our having to purchase and install.
Living in the South with no screens on
your house is not a simple matter and
as the right to quiet, peaceful exis-
tance is just about the only right a
renter has in this State, we got little of
that for almost 3 years.
We could carry on with the lengthy
story of the bathroom tile replacement
promised but not delivered, the Gou’s
actually painted the tile, but perhaps
the reader can make up his/her own
mind at this point regarding the MO
employed by many landlords such as
the Goulets.
The eviction notice is served by
a BC Deputy that comes to the resi-
dence for personal delivery and sig-
nature of receipt. The court date is
included and ours was scheduled for
Friday, March 12. We stood before the
magistrat along with the Gou's and
stated our cases. I related the events
concerning the take it or leave it offer
only to discover that the Gou's had yet
to deposit the check for $1500 which
the magistrat interpreted to mean that
no rent for February had been ten-
dered. (?) The court appearance ter-
minated with the magistrat misinform-
ing us that she would be filing the
forcible eviction order sometime
between Fri the 20th and Thur the
27th of March, and that it would take 5
to 7 working days before the date of
eviction was posted on the property.
The following Monday, March 15th,
we began moving our personal fur-
nishings to a new NFB location and by
Tuesday afternoon had cleared the
house with the exception of a make-
shift bed, cooking and eating necessi-
ties, shower articles and the office
equipment including the computers
necessary to complete the deadline
for the April issue. After 14 years, this
deadline was memorable.
We were there, dead asleep, when
one BC Deputy, with the Gou's in tow,
came bursting in loudly declaring that
we vacate the premises immediately.
With a serious case of the blinks, I
asked the deputy about the required

notice, he led me outside and pointed
to the notice, posted high on a fence
and totally obscured from anyone
entering or exiting the door that I had
been using for several years. I began
breaking down the computers while
the Gou's, with self rightious indigna-
tion on their faces, began rushing
through the house gathering and bag-
ging the various and sundry remnants
of roommates of old including an
ancient sectional couch, several
lamps, garbage containers and
numerous odds and ends left as
instructed by the movers of two days
prior. It was at about that time that this
story started taking shape and the
atmosphere changed. With the
Deputy standing there, Mr. Goulet
began making remarks and got what
we have to opine "mouthy". With this
story writing itself as minutes went by,
we elected to take a few photos. Mr.
Gou's expression of indignation
changed. (see story intro on Cover)
In a quandry as to how to get our
computers and office equipment off
the premises, we were stacking the
boxes out in the drive next to the car
when a neighbor came strolling up the
street to check his mail. “You need
some help? I've got a truck and noth-
ing to do for a few hours”. Thank you
Mattie Hosey, we owe you one sir.
It was the start of one hell of a
week. As the new digs were still being
cleared and repainted etc., checking
into a local motel later that evening
became another eye opener. I never
imagined that there would be such a
shithole on Hilton Head. I mean this
place was rife with decay and
"deferred maintenance" and the
theives and homeless in this area
were apparent. We’ve since begun
referring to it as “Motel Sick”.
The odds are pretty much stacked
against the evictee from square one
and for all those who have, and the
many, many more that may be going
thorough it in the future, we can per-
sonally assure you that you don't want
to be there when the SWAT team hits.
Knowing that this is happening to fam-
ilies across the Country, we don’t
envy Jimmy’s job these days.But
because we've had such an under-
reported experience, and possess the
wherewithal to express it here, we'd
have to do it all over again. cj

OK fine. But, as Franklin put it, “why
are they addressing this now”?
The more I read the more I wanted
to read. The piece continues with,
“Under the most extreme circum-
stances, this might include use of mil-
itary force against hostile groups
inside the US. Further, DODefence
would be, by necessity, an essential
enabling hub for the continuity of polit-
ical authority in a multi-state or nation-
wide civil conflict or disturbance.”
Holy Molé folks, if I’m interpreting
this stuff clearly, they’re talking about
the possibility of an all out revolution.
A “nationwide civil conflict or dis-
trubance”? Franklin may have some-
thing here. The Nat’l stage does seem
to be evolving into something radical
but a “nationwide civil conflict or dis-
trubance” would require some organi-
zation. There is civil unrest, no doubt
about that, but if the DOD and DOJ
are concerned enough to discuss
prepardness, then they know some-
thing they’re not saying. The last
statement is telling: “While likely not
an immediate prospect, this is clearly
a “Black Swan” that merits some visi-
bility inside DOD and the Department
of Homeland Security. This is largely
un-charted strategic territory. Wide-
spread civil violence inside the US
would force the defense establish-
ment to reorient priorities in extremis
to defend basic domestic order and
human security.”

that all the bowing and
scrapeing our President is
doing for the Arabs, and
the “talks” that he’s plan-
ning with the maniac of
Iran, has some underlying logic. I can
only pray that Obama has conspired
with the Jews and is not really leaving
them out while he sits down with men
who have declared that the Jews
must be wiped off the face of the
Earth.
Time and again we are told by the
politically correct "experts" not to
worry about Islam posing a threat to
our way of life. We are repeatedly lec-
tured that only a very small minority of
Muslims are troublemakers who are
giving the peaceful masses of
Muslims a bad name. We are also
informed that the terrorists, who hap-
pened to be Muslims, are the disaf-
fected and the young. And not to
worry, since as the fire of youth turns
to ashes of old age the rebellious will
mellow, as they always have.
With heavy assurances like this,
coming from so many know-it-all
authoritative figures, we can sleep
soundly without the aid of sleeping
pills. After all, people reason that
these pundits are "experts" whose job
is to know and tell it like it is. Those
who voice contrary views must be a
bunch of racist, alarmist hate mon-
gers. Who is right?
The point is, that Little Joe is hav-
ing a hard time giving the gurus in the
Whitehouse the benefit of the doubt.
On one hand, I have to agree that the
general public must be kept in the
dark about how dangerous the situa-
tion really is. On the other, I have to
doubt our leaders ability to accurately
