INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: To prevent the wood from splitting, pre-drill all holes using a drill bit slightly smaller than the shaft of the screw.

Measure and mark the wood before making cuts. Make all cuts prescribed on the materials list. Using the long screws, fasten one short leg brace to each end of the long leg brace, forming an I shape. Set this section aside. Take two leg pieces and mark a line 7 inches from the top of each leg. Using the long screws, join the two legs by fastening a short bottom brace perpendicular to the legs and directly under the pencil lines. This will form an H shape with a high center bar. Repeat this step with the remaining two leg pieces. Hold the two H shaped sides parallel to each other. Join the two using the long bottom braces, attaching one to each side at the same height as the short bottom braces you attached in the last step. Fasten the remaining short bottom brace in the center of the two long bottom braces using long screws. This completes the cradle to which we will we fasten the four bottom boards later.

Now that you have the planters basic frame built, measure 3 inches from the bottom of each leg and mark it on the legs inner-facing side. Stabilize the planters frame by fastening the shaped section that you set aside earlier directly above the 3 inch mark on each leg using long screws. Arrange your 4 bottom boards on the ground, butting them against each other side-by-side to form a large rectangle. Measure and cut a 1 x 1 notch out of each of the large rectangles four corners. This will allow the base of the planter to fit snugly around the legs. Using short screws, fasten the bottom boards to the cradle you created in steps 5 and 6. Now create the basket itself by using short screws to attach the four long and four short sides to the portion of each leg that sticks out above the bottom of the basket. Take a look at the diagram to see how the long and short sides should butt up against one another. Fasten one short basket brace to the center of each long side. Use short screws to fasten each basket brace to the side of the basket, and one long screw to fasten each to the bottom of the basket. Now start planting! (When completed, the planter box holds approximately 2.5 cubic feet of soil.)
