FLAME-ON CALIBRATION: Note: Change the FLAME ON calibration with change of new scanner or after a long boiler shutdown

CAUTION: During L ON NEW or L ON ADD, all boiler variables should be held steady within reason (e.g. do not vary firing rate or nozzle tilt). Also, do not change the variables of the adjacent burner. With the burner flame on, press the Program Enable pushbutton to start the Learn Mode. The detector will do another gain calibration. The display shows GAIN CAL. The screen will then display LRN=110 and start to count down When the display reaches 100, the screen displays NEW DATA and then continues to count down. If certain conditions change in the monitored flame during Learn Flame On, the screen will again display NEW DATA, reset to 100, and then continue to count down from 100.

When the countdown reaches 0, the screen displays: LEARN ON COMPLETE. Without interruptions, it will take approximately 50 seconds for Learn Flame On to count down to 0 (NEW DATA only displayed once). However, it will typically take 2-4 minutes to read the Flame On profile, allowing for additional NEW DATA reads. . FLAME-OFF CALIBRATION: Note: Change the FLAME OFF calibration only if the scanner shows the intensity even in stop condition in consultant with Operation Engineer This function is used for multi burner systems to learn the flame profiles of adjacent burners. Press the Advance key (>) until L OFF NEW appears. CAUTION: During L OFF NEW or L OFF ADD, all boiler variables should be held steady within reason (e.g. do not vary firing rate or nozzle tilt). With the burner flame off and all adjacent burners on, press the Program Enable pushbutton to start the Learn Mode. The Learn counter will start to count down from 110 to 0. The display shows LRN=110 and starts to count down. When the display reaches 100, the screen displays NEW DATA and then continues to count down. If certain conditions in the monitored flame change during Learn Flame Off, the screen will again display NEW DATA, reset to 100, and then continue to count down from 100. When the countdown reaches 0, the screen displays: LEARN OFF COMPLETE. Without interruptions, it will take approximately 50 seconds for Learn Flame Off to count down to 0 (NEW DATA only displayed once). Precautions while changing the Scanner & Scanner assembly Communication address of the scanner to be ensured when ever scanner is changed. Fuel & burner setting to be checked for oil & Coal scanners in A & B settings. After removing scanner assembly the cooling air should be closed. The detector should be covered properly to avoid ingress of dust & moisture. The scanner setting should be checked carefully before saving. After saving the setting ensure the flame off should appear on the scanner & then check flame on with lighting the match stick. While installing the scanner assembly back ensure the cooling air should be opened to avoid damage of filer optic cable & scanner.

MAINTENANCE The flame detector lenses should be cleaned on a periodic basis. Proper cooling air flow should be assured during regular maintenance outages. The Guide pipe should be cleaned on periodic basis to avoid back pressure in cooling air & thus resulting in damaging scanner assembly (fibre optic & scanner head). The guide pipe should be cleaned first using the compressed air & still if its not cleaned then can be poked in presence of mechanical person. Purging of scanner assembly to be ensured on periodic basis.
