Merry Christmas from

BRAZILIAN

OUTREACH
DECEMBER 1975

VISITING WITH JIM . . .

"Later in one of his talks, Jesus said to the people, I am the light of the world. So ifyou follow me, you won't be stumbling through darkness, for living light will flood your path." John 8:12 Wc are thankful that we know jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. With Him as our Lord we can be certain that we will be guided in the right direc tion. He has given us an Important task as His servants. As we prepare to travel home for our furlough in the United States, we have been looking to jesus for wisdom and guidance. He is giving us the strength to get everything in order before we leave. Here is a list of part of the things that we had to get before we can leave:
Airplane Tickets Passport
International Health Certificates

It was necessary to make two trips to Belo Horizonte, the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, to get our Passport and International Health Cer tificates. On our first trip we filled out the forms necessary to get Mark included in our Passport. Also we filled out the forms to get Mark's American Birth Certificate. While we were there we got our small pox shots In order to get our International Health Certificates revalidated. Our Passport was taken by the Consular Officer to Rio de Janeiro to be completed and then sent back to Belo Horizonte. A friend of ours in Belo Horizonte helped to get the exit visa stamped in the Passport at the Police Department there. On November 12th I went to pick up our Passport. It is a great relief that all of the necessary papers are ready so that we can travel. We got our airplane tickets with a special group called Summer Insti tute of Linguistics, or Wycliffe Bible Translators. We will save about

$200 (U.S.) with this group plan. We will leave on December 18th, at
1:25 A.M. and will arrive in Grand Junction, Colorado, at about 3:00 P.M. in the afternoon of the same day. We are looking forward to getting back together to visit with our friends and family this Christmas. We plan to begin visiting with our supporting churches in January.

Please inform our forwarding agent, John DelTondo {address on back),

if there is any special time that you want us to come to be with your con gregation.

TIME WITH CAROL . . .

There's a special glow around us, At a precious baby's birth; And Heaven seems, just for a while, Much closer to the earth.
We are celebrating jesus' birth at this Christmas season. How wonderful that God sent jesus as a baby to grow and live among us! A baby is God's Masterpiece and is such a blessing. Jesus was the most unusual baby because He was born of a virgin and born to die to live again to give us salvation. Thank you, God, for our babies but most of ail for Jesus who giveseternal
life.

A pleasure, a treasure has arrived in our home. Mark Edward Sturgeon was born September 23,1975, at 2:10 A.M. here in Brazil. He weighed 7 pounds and was 19 inches long. Praise the Lord that all went well! Thank you for your prayers. The day I went for my check-up the doctor said to go get my suitcase and come back to the hospital. Having a baby in Brazil is a little different than in the United States. The thing I liked best was that Jim was with me in labor and delivery, even stayed with me until I was discharged
from the hospital.

Timothy sure loves his new brother. Many Brazilians have visited us, congratulating us on Mark's birth. They joke saying he is so white, not very brown or black like many here. They are proud he was born here. We are

happy to be bringing our Mark (souvenir from Brazil) to see you in Decem
ber.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Mom and Dad were gone two nights and one day, ana wnen tney came
back they brought me a baby! I like him, but Mom won't let me feed him

some of my chicken or Kool-aid, and he doesn't want to play with my toys. Since he's another boy just like me, I bet we can really have fun to gether. Dad says Mark smiles like he is just waiting until he can join me!
Christmas is coming!! I remember a little about last Christmas here in Brazil, and this year I get to have Christmas with YOU in the SNOW! I'll get to go on the airplane again, and Mark will too, for the first time.

Christmas means jesus to me. I've been In Brazil almost two years learning about Jesus and seeing that my friends I play with and their Moms and Dads can have Jesus too. Some of my friends and their Moms and Dads don't know Jesus, so their Christmas is not like mine. When we sing about Jesus and remember He was born, that makes our Christ
mas really nice, wherever we are.
