TheCanadianCouncilofDirectorsofApprenticeship(CCDA)recognizesthisNational OccupationalAnalysisasthenationalstandardfortheoccupationofIndustrialElectrician. Background ThefirstNationalConferenceonApprenticeshipinTradesandIndustries,heldinOttawain 1952,recommendedthatthefederalgovernmentberequestedtocooperatewithprovincialand territorialapprenticeshipcommitteesandofficialsinpreparinganalysesofanumberofskilled occupations.Tothisend,HumanResourcesandSkillsDevelopmentCanada(HRSDC)sponsors aprogram,undertheguidanceoftheCCDA,todevelopaseriesofNationalOccupational Analyses(NOAs). TheNOAshavethefollowingobjectives: todescribeandgroupthetasksperformedbyskilledworkers; toidentifywhichtasksareperformedineveryprovinceandterritory; todevelopinstrumentsforuseinthepreparationofInterprovincialRedSeal Examinationsandcurriculafortrainingleadingtothecertificationofskilledworkers; tofacilitatethemobilityofapprenticesandskilledworkersinCanada;and, tosupplyemployers,employees,associations,industries,traininginstitutionsand governmentswithanalysesofoccupations.
