MATERIALS 640-502 Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn: Mesquite 2 Balls Lion Brand Crochet Hook - Size P-15 Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6)

GAUGE: 6 single crochet = about 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles. NOTES: 1. Cowl is worked in joined rounds. At the end of each round, work a slip stitch to join last stitch to first stitch. Turn at the beginning of each round. 2. If you find it difficult to join the beginning chain into a ring without twisting the chain, Round 1 can be worked as a row then joined into a round, as follows: Chain 37, work a single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, work a single crochet in each remaining chain across; join with slip stitch in first single crochet. Proceed to Round 2. When weaving in ends, use the beginning yarn tail to sew the ends of the first row together.

COWL Chain 37. Being careful not to twist the chain; join with slip stitch in first chain to form a ring. Round 1: Chain 1, work a single crochet in each chain around; join with slip stitch in first single crochet 36 single crochet stitches at the end of this round. Round 2: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), turn, work a double crochet in each single crochet around; join with slip stitch in top of turning chain. Round 3: Chain 1, turn, work a single crochet in each double crochet around; join with slip stitch in first single crochet. Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until nearly all yarn has been used. Fasten off. FINISHING Weave in ends.
