The Crime and the Court Case Please read the following description of a hypothetical crime.

Be sure to read all of the information presented carefully. Answer the questions to the best of your ability. Description of the Crime: On Friday, May 12, 2006, at approximately 3 p.m., the owner of a small grocery store was confronted by a man who demanded money from the cash register. The owner immediately handed $110 to the robber, who took the money and started walking away. Suddenly, the robber turned and fired two shots at the owner and his five-year-old granddaughter who was standing behind the counter. Both victims died instantly. Two hours later, the police arrested a suspect and charged him with robbery and murder. Summary of Arguments Presented by the Prosecution

1) A clerk who was in the store during the robbery testified that he saw the defendant
shoot the two victims. 2) The robber ran into the same apartment house in which the defendant lives 3) $123 was found in the defendant's room 4) Traces of ammonia used to clean the floor of the store were found on the defendant's shoes. 5) Chemical tests to determine whether a person has gun powder on his hands from firing a gun indicated that there was some possibility that the defendant had fired a gun during the same day. 5) The defendant testified that he had never fired a gun in his life. 6) The defense testified that the clerk, who claimed to have identified the defendant, was extremely nearsighted and that the illumination level in the store at the time of the shooting was very poor.
