Canon Lee School Canon Lee Specialist Arts College is a rapidly expanding 11-16 community school on the periphery of the City of York. The school is part of the highly regarded City of York Education Service. The school is extremely popular within the community due to the commitment of our highly qualified staff, educational standards, developing facilities and where every child really matters. Britt Swain Britt Swain trained at Chelsea Art College as a Printed Textile Designer. After a few years of selling designs all over the world to brands such as Calvin Klein, Harrods and Laura Ashley, she decided to use her skills in a practical way, by training to become an art teacher. For the last 11 years she has been teaching at schools in Yorkshire and London, as well as running Community Art Workshops for the last 3 years. Projects have including creating a 'Show in a Day' in secondary schools where her team of professional artists and musicians have conducted workshops (for up to 270 pupils) in drama, music and set design for a show to be performed at the end of the day. Britt has also run Summer Workshops in schools where pupils have painted murals for their school hall, based on their own drawings, art work and stories. One community project the painting of a huge colourful mural for a local supermarket was truly communal, as it involved a team spanning the ages of 5 to 86!
