CARLOTA CALDERN

ccalderon@hotmail.co.uk 0785 6406782 88 Blake Street S6 3JR, Sheffield

I am a young journalist with seven years of combined training and professional experience. During my career, I have produced content for radio, press and web. I have spent the last year undertaking an MA in Web Journalism, further developing and applying IT and web skills to maintaining a live news website, creating content specifically for web publication and using technology to gather news stories. I am now looking for a position where I can apply these skills and learn all about using social media to improve business communication.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2013 The Rotherham Advertiser (10th -14th June) Reporter Week of work experience. I published eight by-lines, including two for off-diary stories. I also re-wrote press releases and added value to the stories by contacting informed sources. Other roles included answering the phone and spotting possible stories as well as collaborating with other reporters. I also co-presented the Sneak Peak, a video summarizing the week's stories. The editor Michael Upton invited me for further work. 2012-2013 (Feb-present) BBC Radio Sheffield Panellist

I participate as a panellist in Rony Robinson's morning talk show, to discuss the issues of the day live from the studio. I have commented on sensitive breaking news stories including the Boston marathon bombings, national policies such as the introduction of the bedroom tax and light-hearted topics, such as new year's eve celebrations and Spain winning Euro 2012. I have learned to quickly outline an informed opinion, to inspire the audience and to combine entertainment with information. 2011-2012 (Feb-Feb) El Imparcial, Madrid Reporter

Worked full-time in the Society section at the Spanish online newspaper El Imparcial (www.elimparcial.es). I proposed and followed news stories and features, attended press conferences, undertook face-to-face and phone interviews, worked as a copy-writer and promoted contents on Twitter. Amongst other responsibilities I had to close the weekend's edition once every month, making sure we had uploaded the latest news as well as the night's editorials and opinion columns. 2010-2011 (Nov-May) Sogecable, Madrid Storage and archive assistant

Worked part-time for Spain's leading private TV company. Classified documents, airbrushed and archived digital photos, uploaded broadcast schedules onto the channel guide and wrote brief descriptions of programs to be aired. 2010 (July-Sept) Sheffield Live Radio Presenter and producer

Ran an hour long program twice a week called Communities Live along with a team of four people. I produced and edited my own podcasts, and presented the entire program on several occasions. My other tasks were to moderate debates, interview participants at the studio and over the phone and to make editorial decisions.
