Design Brief:
Aurangabad is a fastest developing city in Maharashtra. It is a Headquarter of Marathwada region. It is a tourist capital of maharashra, as international tourist destinations of Ellora and Ajantha are located in its proximity. Aurangabad has a rich cultural and Architectural heritage. One can find Architecture of different era such as Mughal, Rock cut Buddhist, Hindu temple Architecture, Fort Architecture and Architecture of Nizamshahi. The crafts of the region such as Himroo Shawl, Bidri work, Stone ornaments, carpentry are special and very ancient which dates back to Mughal era. To train the local youth to learn this art and craft of the region , a vocational training Institute is proposed near Ellora which will cater to the youth of the region teaching them the crafts such as carpentry, stone artifacts making and metal work. The proposed Institute will also have residential facility as well as shops to sell the artifacts made in the workshops to the tourists visiting Ellora and Devgiri fort. Aurangabad is having hot and dry climate, the design should also cater to the local macro and micro climate , material and technological aspects. The architectural language of the surrounding region should reflect in the design style for the proposed Institute.
