INTRODUCTION Career Progression Chart refers to the sequence of jobs or classifications in a work structure that an individual can attain through progressive achievement of competencies and other requirements. Career paths can enable a person to progress within a particular industry or sector of an industry, or laterally move into another related sector of an industry or another industry. RMAF Fire Service consists of two sub sectors namely Fire Operation and Fire Support. Fire-fighters working in Fire Operation sub sector normally involve shift work which provide a 24 hours emergency services for aircraft rescue and fire-fighting and structural firefighting as well. Meanwhile Firefighters working in Fire Support sub sector usually working in normal working hours and doing specialist job such as low level maintenance and testing of all fire protection systems, fire vehicles and first aid fire equipments. Fire-fighters working in Fire Operation sub sector are called Aerofireman Driver (AFD) and those doing specialist job in Fire Support sub sector known as Fire Technician (FT). Leading Aerofireman. Fire-fighter whos holding this job title should be able and competent to handle rescue apparatus, carry out rescue operation, handle casualty, set up control zone, handle hazmat, carry out hazmat rescue, carry out ba daily test, carry out communication equipment di, service portable fire extinguisher, service fire hydrant and carry out equipment periodic test. c. Senior Aerofireman. Fire-fighter whos holding this job title should be able and competent to handle fire vehicle, lead rescue operation, lead hazmat rescue operation, carry out fire vehicle DI, handle operation information, carry out

communication DI, handle messaging, update observation log, inspect portable fire extinguisher serviceability, inspect hydrant serviceability, inspect equipment serviceability and conduct fire service drill. d. Fire Controller. Fire-fighter whos holding this job title should be able and competent to lead firefighting operation, conduct fire investigation, lead hazmat operation, inspect DI activities, verify fire control room records, conduct crash fire practice, conduct domestic fire practice, conduct occupant fire drill, conduct fire lecture and carry out fire prevention inspection. e. Fire Supervisor. Fire-fighter whos holding this job title should be able and competent to verify daily inspection activities, verify fire appliances maintenance report, verify appliances maintenance activities schedule, verify item forecast demand, prepare appraisal report, prepare workplace training program, carry out workplace training assessment, prepare work schedule, verify periodic fire section report, verify enforcement activities schedule, verify enforcement activities report and verify incident report. f. Fire Technician. Fire-fighter whos holding this job title should be a ble and competent to check detection system, BGCP and alarm devices, check sprinkler fire suppression system water storage, sprinkler fire suppression piping system and sprinkler head, check gas type fire suppression piping system, check gas cylinder, check extinguishing agent storage, check fire suppression piping system (foam), check hose reel system water storage, hose reel piping system and hose reel components, check wet riser water storage, check wet riser piping system and check wet riser fire-fighting hose, check dry riser piping system and dry riser fire-fighting hose, carry out breathing apparatus servicing, carry out ground equipment servicing and carry out special vehicle servicing. At same time all Fire Technician should be able and competent to carry out all of the core competency units specified for Leading Aerofireman (WPL 2). g. Senior Fire Technician. Fire-fighter whos holding this job title should be able and competent to inspect alarm panel and carry out fire alarm system functional test, inspect sprinkler fire suppression pump system, carry out sprinkler fire suppression system functional test, carry out gas type fire suppression system functional test, inspect fire suppression pump system (foam), carry out fire suppression system functional test (foam), inspect hose reel pump system, carry out hose reel system functional test, inspect wet riser pump system, carry out wet riser functional test, carry out dry riser functional test , carry out breathing apparatus functional test, carry out ground equipment functional test and carry out special vehicle functional test. At same time all Senior Fire Technician should be able and competent to carry out all of the core competency units specified for Senior Aerofireman (WPL 3). h. Fire Tecnician Supervisor. Fire-fighter whos holding this job title should be able and competent to verify fire alarm system serviceability, verify sprinkler fire suppression system serviceability, verify gas type fire suppression system serviceability, verify fire suppression system serviceability (foam), verify hose reel system serviceability, verify wet riser system serviceability, verify dry riser system serviceability, verify breathing apparatus serviceability, verify ground equipment serviceability, verify special vehicle serviceability, produce maintenance schedule, prepare work schedule, prepare spare forecast demand, prepare spare requisitions, conduct workplace training, prepare defect report and prepare monthly fire protection system serviceability report. At same time all Fire Technician Supervisor should be able and competent to carry out all of the core competency units specified for Fire Technician (WPL 4).

ENTRY TO THE MUSTERING 1. Enlistment Requirements. General qualifications for entry to RMAF enlistment are as required by MAF. The candidates must demonstrate a strong a genuine motivation to be RMAF Fire-fighter. Formal Education. Minimum entrance qualification for RMAF Fire-fighter preferably completed SPM level of schooling with pass in English, Science and Mathematics subject. Trainees who are selected to become Firefighters will be sent for PreScience Course at ITAS, KTU Alor Setar to strengthen their foundation in the three mentioned subjects. Prerequisite Competencies. To achieve at least level 5 in ADFELP test or equivalent during recruit training. Methods of Entry to the Mustering. Entry to the RMAF Fire-fighter mustering is as trainee. Service members may apply for remuster to the RMAF Fire-Fighter mustering but are required to complete the basic and advanced course i.e. Basic Aerofireman Course, Advanced Aerofireman Course and Fire Controller & Supervisor Course. Retention of rank in the case of remuster is determined by AKS SM. Career Progression. The opportunity exists for RMAF Fire-fighters to progress from LU to PW as shown in Career Progression Chart. Some courses are pre-requisites for promotion. Other courses are site-specific, meaning that individuals may undergo training before employment in specific areas.
