Plug & Play Startup Acceleration Program

The Plug & Play Startup Acceleration Program is a 3-month program designed to provide startups with a structured way of accessing the resources of Silicon Valley through Plug and Play. The program is designed to enable an international startup to explore business development, partnerships, investment and other opportunities. The program consists of the following component phases:

1.

Qualification and Business Review: Plug and Play will evaluate proposed companies. Ideal companies are those in high tech (IT/ICT), have some traction in their domestic markets and are looking at possible US and global expansion. Companies will be asked to submit: a. Executive Summary: 1-page overview of company (template provided) b. Company Presentation: 10-slide overview of company (no standard format)

Plug & Play University Workshop: Upon arrival at Plug and Play, companies will participate in a 4-day workshop that is designed to introduce entrepreneurs to the Silicon Valley ecosystem and business environment. Workshops are held quarterly in Jan, April, July and Oct. Topics include (subject to change): a. Silicon Valley Overview: Understanding and leveraging the resources unique to Silicon Valley b. Legal, Tax and Accounting: Implications of doing business in Silicon Valley, US as opposed to other geographies c. Funding Process: Overview of Plug & Play Funding process, pitching to Venture Capitalists (VC) and Corporate Investors, with a presentation by a partner or visit to a firm d. Corporate Partners: Addresses the importance of corporate partners as a go-to-market channel for emerging technologies and how to get in touch to proceed with partnership\ e. Pitching Workshop: Several hours dedicated to modifying the investor presentation to address key issues consistently raised by the venture and angel community f. Go To Market: Overview of scalability of operations, monetization and business plan based on overall market trends for various sectors g. Startup Case Studies: Experiences of other local and international startups; interaction with Founders and CEOs through information sharing and networking

Plug & Play Accelerator: During the 3-month program, companies will have structured access to the strategic resources of Plug and Play, including fund-raising opportunities through direct introductions to VCs and other investors, business development opportunities through our corporate and technology partners as well as coaching and mentoring opportunities through our network of advisors. Companies will have access to the following (where applicable): a. Business Development Opportunities: Each company will be given opportunities to pitch to suitable corporate or other strategic partners. Each company will receive at least 3 introductions or pitching opportunities. At the discretion of the Plug & Play Ventures team, company may receive additional introductions1 b. Fundraising Opportunities: Each company will be given opportunities to pitch to Venture Capital, Corporate Venture or Angel Investor groups. Each company will receive at least 3 introductions or pitching opportunities; At the discretion of the Plug & Play Ventures team, companies may receive additional introductions2

Mentorship and Coaching: Companies will receive dedicated time from Plug & Play team and mentors including: a. Business Plan Coaching: Plug & Play Ventures/Startup teams will provide coaching to each company in preparation for pitching and/or to adjust or adapt their business plan b. c. Business Relationship Manager (BRM): Each company will be assigned a Plug & Play BRM who will meet with company regularly to review milestones and objectives, and facilitate access to Plug & Play resources Deep Dive Session: Each company will be invited to present to a closed panel consisting of domain experts. This session allows a company to receive in-depth feedback, discuss go-to-market strategies and leverage the panels network Company Mentor: Throughout the program companies will be able to select dedicated domain and industry experts to serve as the company mentor. Each mentor will provide up to 10 hours of support per month including, but not limited to, go to market strategies, market and product positioning and introductions to relevant contacts.

Plug & Play Membership: During the term of the program, companies receive a basic Plug & Play Membership which includes: a. b. c. d. Full Service Office Space: Each company will be provided with a dedicated semi-open office space for 1-2 employees. This includes front desk and reception service, conference room use (16hrs/month), basic internet connection and shared phone/fax/copy facilities (usage charged) Networking Events: Companies will have free access to all Plug and Play community events (including monthly Community Meetings, CEO Talks, EXPO events, etc.) Events at Plug and Play provide a platform for companies to explore collaboration and other opportunities with other companies and potential partners Professional Service Partners: Companies will have access to Plug and Play service partners in areas including Legal, IP, Accounting, HR, Banking, etc. (Initial on-site consultations are complimentary) Additional Services: Companies will have access to other on-site services including IT support, top-tier datacenter and talent acquisition/recruiting (charged separately)

Plug & Play EXPO: Plug & Play holds several major events per year including our quarterly showcase EXPO event as well as events that are industry or sector focused (E.g. Mobile or Smart Grid). Each event draws crowds of over 500 including up to 100 VCs, Corporate and Angel Investors. During the 3-month program, each company will have a reserved opportunity to take part in one of the EXPO or showcase events with the following: a. b. c. Pitch Workshops: Companies will be invited to participate in pitch polishing, feedback and other workshops to refine their presentations and pitches Company Demos: Companies will be invited to demo their products and services in the exhibition hall during the EXPO event Company Pitches: Companies will be invited to apply to pitch on-stage during the EXPO event in front of a live audience3
