In mathematics, a function [1] is a relation between a set of inputs and a set of permissible outputs with the property that each input is related to exactly one output. The output of a function f corresponding to an input x is denoted by f(x). For example, if the input is 3, then the output is 9, the function is denoted as f (3) = 9. There are many ways to describe or represent a function. Some functions may be defined by a formula or algorithm that tells how to compute the output for a given input. Others are given by a picture, called the graph of the function. The input and output of a function can be expressed as an ordered pair, ordered so that the first element is the input and the second is the output. In the example above, f(x) = x2, we have the ordered pair (3, 9). In modern mathematics, a function is defined by its set of inputs, called the domain, a set containing the outputs, called its codomain, and the set of all paired input and outputs, called the graph. For example, we could define a function using the rule f(x) =x2 by saying that the domain and codomain are the real numbers, and that the ordered pairs are all pairs of real numbers (x, x2). Example: f 2 3 4 A 4 9 16 B Set A is the domain. Set B is the codomain.

The function can be written as f(x) = x2 When written in ordered pairs; {(2, 4), (3, 9), (4, 16)} When represented in form of graph;

Reflection While conducting this project, I have deepened my understanding about the topic of functions. I have also learnt how to insert symbols as well as equations via computer. I have practiced the moral values of determination, appreciation, and discipline. I discussed with my teacher and dear friends about the project and we worked together to complete it within the time limit appointed. I am much thankful to all who have helped me during the process of this project.
