Rain date for Outdoor Worship & Blessing Animals END SUMMER SCHEDULE Welcome Confirmation Mentors, Blessing Prayer Shawls Grandparents Day
CONSISTORY CORNER
Your Consistory hopes this finds you enjoying the lazy, hazy days of summer and reveling in Gods wonders everywhere, as everything flowers, blooms and grows! Kind of reminds me of Longswamp UCC these daysflowering, blooming and growing! Consistory has been hard at work on many fronts this monthstewardship and property improvements, improving communication between the church and the Learning Center, working with the Historical Committee as we preserve and honor our heritage, improving fellowship opportunities, enhancing our relationship with our charter Boy Scout Troop #575, and beginning discussion about overhauling our website design and administration. And that is just the tip of the iceberg of all we have envisioned for the upcoming months! Our faithful Property Committee is focusing their efforts on the sanctuary with painting projects throughout, the use of Christopher Stress as our consultant in historical accuracy with any new proposed improvements and additions, and insulation and heating projects in the near future. The Congregation has clearly indicated through the 2 surveys that the sanctuary is our primary focus at this time, and our Property Committee is responding. A Sanctuary Task Force has been formed and recently met to begin hashing out ideas for the sanctuary. If you are interested in having some input in the vision of the sanctuary, please see a Consistory member and let them know that you would like to be involved. Stewardship of the Walbert bequest is always at the forefront of everything we do. This month a vote was made to disburse funds, biannually, from the Sustaining Fund. Your Endowment Committee has done a wonderful job investing some of the Walbert Bequest wisely, and the stock market has been cooperative! Endowment is constantly analyzing the best way to conduct these investments in a changing market, and we appreciate their efforts. Improved communication and relationship with the Learning Center has been a goal for the past year or so, and this month was no exception. It has been determined that an overhaul of the LLC By Laws be done and that a better formula be created by which the Learning Centers Facility Usage Fee is determined. Many things have changed since the LLCs inception 25+ years ago, and Consistory feels that it is in the churchs and the LLCs best interest to re-evaluate many of these issues. We are very fortunate to have such a fantastic, highly-accredited learning center among us. It was designed as a mission to the community, and it continues to exceed our expectations in what it offers our local infants, toddlers and school-age children. The LUCC Historical Committee is making progress in leaps and bounds! After much discussion, Consistory unanimously voted to name the parsonage the Schubert Haus, as per the historical relevance of the Schubert Family to our church. They are purchasing a new refrigerator and have made numerous improvements at the Schubert Haus. Sometime in the fall they will be hosting a fellowship down there, after church, to show us all what theyve accomplished thus far! A correction to last months Consistory Corner: the Schubert Celebration is slated for 2015, not 2014. It is a busy time. There are things to be done in so many areas of church life. Many snacks have been purchased for fellowshipall you need to do is host it! It has never been any easier. Feel free to jump injust like in these warm, sunny daysthe waters warm and inviting! We welcome your involvement in YOUR church. Your talents, your treasure, your time, your visionHe has given them to you to use for His good and in His name. Dont wait. The time is now. In Christ, Kim Jenkins 2012/2013 Consistory President

Pastor Kathy will be taking vacation from Sunday, June 30 after worship to Monday, July 8th. Pastoral coverages are organized; please contact the church office with any needs. Reverend Albert Teske will serve as guest pastor on July 7th. He has previously served as guest pastor on February 24th, 2013.
th
Rev. Dr. Albert Teske served for 28 years as senior pastor of New Goshenhoppen UCC in East Greenville, retiring in 1994. Rev. Teske was born in Philadelphia, attended Ursinus College and went to United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. He and his wife Mabel currently reside in Macungie.
Summer Faithfulness:
Unlike many of us, the church, its life and ministry do not take a vacation during this more relaxing time of the year. Please be regular and generous in both your attendance and financial support as we enter the coming months. And if you happen to be attending worship at another church, be generous there as well for that congregation will also be experiencing a time of lower attendance and support.
Animals is August 25th. This service is less formal at the pavilion and animals are welcome. For your personal comfort feel free to bring a folding lawn chair which avoids the need to find seating at one of the benches & tables in the pavilion. If weather or other conditions dictate otherwise the service will be moved indoors. The Blessing of the Animals service will be rescheduled for September 1 st, same time and location. All are invited to come to summer services in leisurely attire. Our summer worship schedule will continue through Sept. 1st. We will then return to our regular Sunday morning schedule September 9th with: Confirmation & Friendship Discussion Hour at 9:00AM and Worship at 10:15AM.
Outdoor Services: The next outdoor worship service, which is the Blessing of the
celebrated on Sunday, July 21st, & August 18th at 9AM during the summer months. If you or a family member, wish to receive private Holy Communion please notify the Pastor.

A green table cloth was on the table. Paper flowers attached to pens, pencils and markers were the center piece and two framed hand prints expressed the reason for the festive display. The staff were being thanked and honored on May 29th by the Miltenberger family with a scrumptious lunch delivered by Armettas Italian Restaurant. Lunch was delicious but dessert was superb!

Pictured above is Grandmother Anne Wangeci holding her granddaughter, Emma. Grandmother Anne visited the center to help celebrate Emmas first birthday. Anne is from Nairobi, Kenya. She is one of 14 children born between the years of 1941- 1964. Sons Patrick and Victor are seated next to Anne. Emmas father, Patrick, is to the left of Anne. Hugs, laughter, pictures and information sharing filled our morning before our visitors had to leave.
