FUNCTIONS
Clears heat in the upper warmer

ACUPOINT

LOCATION
On the lateral aspect of the chest, in the first intercostal space, 6 cun lateral to the midline, 1 cun inferior to LU2 FRONT MU OF Lung Wind Heat that has penetrated deeply into the chest On the antero-lateral aspect of the upper arm, 3 cun inferior to the axillary fold and 6 cun superior to LU5, in the depression between the lateral border of the biceps brachii muscle and the shaft of the humerus. WINDOW OF SKY LOCAL POINT

INDICATIONS
Asthma, wheezing; Bronchitis Chest Pain Cough Pneumonia Wind heat that has penetrated deeply into chest Fever with heavy yellow or green phlegm

DISCUSSION
More dispersing than tonifying, for acute or chronic excess conditions, of exterior (e.g. wind cold) or internal (e.g. phlegm heat) origin. Often combined with BL13, the Back-Shu of the LU, which excels at tonifying chronic LU deficiency.

CONTRA.
No deep Perpendicular Needle!

LU3

Clears heat in Upper Burner Regulates LU Qi

Asthma Nosebleed Pain in medial upper arm WOS indications: children who get asthma from nightmares.

WOS: regulates flow of Qi between the body and the head People who talk to themselves or wont speak at all.

No Moxa!

LU5

On the cubital crease of the elbow, in the depression at the radial side of the tendon of biceps brachii. HE SEA POINT WATER POINT LUNG HEAT & PHLEGM

Clears LU heat, regulate LU Qi Directs LU Qi downward Expels phlegm from LU Benefits elbow joint

LU6

On the flexor aspect of the forearm, 7 cun proximal to LU9, on the line connecting LU9 with LU5. XI-CLEFT POINT ACUTE ISSUES BLEEDING

Clears heat, moistens LU RE, promotes sweating Alleviates cough and calms wheezing Benefits the throat Cools blood, stops bleeding

Asthma (esp. acute) Cough Fullness in the chest due to phlegm (heavy) Phlegm in the throat & lungs (may be yellow or white and heavy) Arm/elbow pain & swelling Spitting up blood Mastitis (infection/pain in the breast) Forearm and elbow pain (spasms) Asthma Cough Hemoptysis Sore throat Chest pain related to LU Similar to LU5, but esp. good for bleeding.

He Sea treats LU organ, connects superficial w/ the deep flow, for illness that has gone deeper into the LU. Acute or chronic, exterior or interior conditions Water cools heat in LU, either excess or def. Assists the descending function of LU and transforms phlegm, esp. phlegm heat often combined w/ ST40

No Moxa, Avoid Cubital Vein!

Xi-cleft for acute symptoms, sudden loss of voice, acute cough, wheezing Moistening for wind heat, wind dryness or deficiency fire blood streaked sputum, coughing blood, nosebleed

FUNCTIONS
Circulates, regulates LU Qi Expels wind, RE Strengthens the descending and dispersing function of LU Opens the water channels

ACUPOINT

LOCATION
1.5 cun proximal to wrist crease in cleft between the tendons of brachioradialis and abductor pollicis longus. {JAS: 1.5 cun proximal to LU9 on radial side to radial artery} CONTROL POINT FOR HEAD AND NECK BIAS TOWARD WIND-COLD STRONG DESCENDING FUNCTION At the wrist joint, in the depression between the radial artery and the tendon of abductor pollicis longus, level with the proximal border of the pisiform bone. YUAN SOURCE POINT MOST TONIFYING, WARMING & ABSORPTIVE POINT ON CHANNEL

INDICATIONS
Asthma Cough (early stage wind invasion or rebellious Qi add CV22) Facial edema Headache Sore, swollen throat (esp. early stage wind invasion) Stiff neck Opens nose for wind cold Main point for common cold Diseases of the wrist joint

DISCUSSION
MP for exterior wind, accompanied by cold, heat or dryness. Common cold. Combine w/ LI4 LU7 included for urinary disorders due to its function of regulating the waterways Main point for moving and regulating LU Qi, for asthma, cough, shortness of breath, chest pain Strengthens dispersing function of LU, sends qi and fluids down, for upper body and facial edema One of the four command points

CONTRA.
Avoid Cephalic Vein!

Tonifies LU Qi and Yin Transforms phlegm and alleviates cough

Dull chest pain Weak cough (LU def.) Helps to dry phlegm (ST40) Diseases of radial wrist joint Generally used for more chronic deficient LU conditions

Most tonifying, warming and absorptive point on the LU channel, dries phlegm MP for transforming mucous, esp. arising from def or chronic cold conditions MP for def. LU yin, w/ dry throat, scanty phlegm, heat signs

Avoid Radial Artery!
