The Passive Fire Protection Specialists

DuraSteel
DuraSteel is a unique non-combustible material consisting of two metal sheets mechanically bonded to a fiber cement core. The metal sheets are available in galvanized, stainless or other specialty metals. DuraSteel is easy to install and creates a safer environment in applications that require structural strength & fire integrity. DuraSteel Features: Offers up to 6-hour fire protection Blast & Impact Resistant Moisture Resistant Acoustic properties Maintenance-free Space-saving Engineered for fast track construction Lightweight yet substantially stronger than other products Employs only dry trade installation methods Relocatable and suitable for retro-installation Suitable for all industries and environments Impervious to weather conditions

The Passive Fire Protection Specialists

DuraSystems Solutions for Life Safety and Risk Management
Loss prevention regulations and proactive initiatives are becoming a world-wide mandate to preclude hazardous emissions, fires and explosions. The pressure is on to prevent disasters which can cause workplace injuries, environmental damage and loss of property. DuraSystems are specialists in Passive Fire Protection and our systems are instrumental in protecting life, the environment and your financial investment. Our technical and engineering skills are used to develop fire and blast protection for some of the most vulnerable industries. DuraSystems passive fire protection systems and fireblast systems were developed to protect critical and hazardous areas minimizing the possibility of major disasters.

THE DURASTEEL SHEET DuraSteel is a composite of fiber-cement with metal facing sheets. It is non-combustible and lightweight and is widely used in the construction of fire resisting structures and assemblies. It is unaffected by moisture and even when saturated its fire performance remains unimpaired. The DuraSteel sheet is exceptionally robust, resistant to impact damage and, once installed, requires minimal maintenance even in the most aggressive atmospheres. The DuraSteel sheet and constructions have been widely tested by independent laboratories. Full details of physical and performance characteristics are available. DuraSteel standard finishes are available with either G90 (Z275) galvanized or 316-2B stainless steel face sheets Galvanized 1200mm x 2500mm x 6mm thick 1200mm x 2500mm x 9.5mm thick 950mm x 2500mm x 9.5mm thick

Working with DuraSteel
Cutting: DuraSteel can be cut using normal cutting tools such as a band saw, diamond or carbide tipped circular saw, a reciprocating saw, sheeting saw or hacksaw having a fine metal cutting blade. Drilling: Use normal metal working bits. Drill holes at a minimum of 16mm from the edge of the sheet. Shaping: Use a jig saw with a metal working blade. Burred edges can be removed with a file. Avoid unnecessary damage to the galvanized coating. Attaching: DuraSteel sheets are usually screw fixed to a mild steel structural framework constructed on site. DuraSystems can provide fixing details for your specific application. Decorating: Galvanized DuraSteel can be painted following the application of a suitable metal primer. Best results are obtained after the galvanized coat has weathered naturally for 28 days. Etching solutions are not recommended. DuraSteel is a suitable substrate for the application of rigid decorative veneers. Maintenance: DuraSteel normally requires no maintenance other than immediate removal of corrosive substances and the occasional cleaning for cosmetic purposes. DuraSteel can be protected with corrosion inhibiting paint, particularly in areas where impact may damage the galvanized coating. Handling: DuraSteel products should be carried on their edge to prevent bowing. They should be placed, not dropped, over trestles and care must be taken not to damage the edges or corners. Storage: Sheets should be stored flat, preferably under cover.
