Introduction to the Business Process Analysis business solution

This document describes which ARIS products of the Business Process Analysis solution are required for each of the use cases (Page 3) and what you need to observe when using both products together. System administrators will find check lists for installing and configuring the relevant ARIS products including references to the complete installation and configuration descriptions that come with the products.

Notes on data security

We do all we can to protect your data. Please ensure that ARIS is integrated correctly in your IT environment. In order for communication between ARIS Business Server and ARIS clients to proceed safely and reliably, protect your system from unauthorized access with a firewall. Make sure that all items on the ARIS Business Server and ARIS configuration check lists are complied with after the installation and the creation of new databases. The check lists are located in the Server Installation and Administration Guide, chapter Notes on data security observance, or in the online help (Help > Help topics > Manage > Data security).

The Business Process Analysis solution covers two use cases:

3.1

Process transformation

The following ARIS products are available for the Process transformation use case: ARIS clients (Page 4) ARIS Business Server with ARIS Process Governance server (Page 4) ARIS Business Publisher Server (Page 5) ARIS MashZone (Page 5)

The following ports will be used and must be enabled: 8080 9090 7071 16070-16083 16091-16093 16360

For information on system requirements, please refer to the document Supported platforms. Detailed installation and administration descriptions are available in the corresponding guides (Page 10). You can find your license keys in the documentation sent to you after contract agreement.

3.1.1

ARIS Client installation

Detailed descriptions are included in the ARIS Client Installation Guide located on the installation media in the DOC > EN directory. Install all ARIS clients required in one step using the automatic product selection by license key. This ensures that the following ARIS Clients will be installed: ARIS Business Architect containing ARIS Business Publisher functions and ARIS Business Simulator ARIS Business Designer ARIS Process Automation Architect ARIS Business Optimizer

If you use the business solution license key during installation the methods ARIS Business Strategy and ARIS Six Sigma including associated reports, object symbols, etc. are automatically enabled.

ARIS Business Server and ARIS Process Governance server installation

Detailed descriptions are available in the Server Installation and Administration Guide located in the Docs > EN directory. Install ARIS Business Server and ARIS Process Governance server in one step. Have both license keys handy.

Install ARIS Business Publisher Server

Detailed descriptions are available in the Server Installation and Administration Guide located in the Docs > EN directory. Install ARIS Business Publisher Server with the following options: ARIS Process Governance integration Either Oracle database system or MSSQL database system

These database systems are not included in the product scope and need to be provided by you. To use another approved Web application server or database system, please contact your local Software AG sales organization. You can configure the connection to ARIS Process Governance and the database system at a later time, too.

3.1.4

Install ARIS MashZone

Install ARIS MashZone applying the Extended installation type. Ensure that the check box Installl web Methods Broker/JMS add-on is disabled.

Process-driven SAP

The following ARIS products are available for the Process-driven SAP use case: ARIS clients (Page 7) ARIS Business Server with ARIS Process (Page 8) Governance server ARIS Business Publisher Server (Page 8) ARIS MashZone (Page 5)

The following ports will be used and must be enabled: 8080 9090 7071 16070-16083 16091-16093 16360

For information on system requirements, please refer to the document Supported platforms. Detailed installation and administration descriptions are available in the corresponding guides (Page 10). You can find your license keys in the documentation sent to you after contract agreement. The following SAP systems must be available, as well: Local SAP GUI for Windows installation, version 7.1 to 7.20 SAP R/3 4.6 c or d, 4.7 ECC 5.0/ECC 6.0 (de, en, fr, sp, ja) SAP Solution Manager and access to the file saplogon.ini. SAP JCO 3.0.5

Ensure that the users have been created in the SAP system and have RFC privileges. Ensure that the SAP ports sapgw00 3300/tcp and sapdp00 3200/tcp are enabled in the Windows file Services of the client computer (C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\). This ensured RFC access. Usually, these ports are automatically specified during SAP GUI installation. If you access via server groups (SAP router) you need to manually enter the SAP ports in consecutive order. The syntax for a port number is 3300 plus the <SAP system number> being used. If, for example, the system number is 03, you need to enter the port number 3303. Entries that are not consecutive will be ignored.

3.2.1

ARIS Client installation

Detailed descriptions are included in the ARIS Client Installation Guide located on the installation media in the DOC > EN directory. Install all ARIS clients required in one step using the automatic product selection by license key. This ensures that the following ARIS Clients will be installed: ARIS Business Architect for SAP containing ARIS for SAP functions ARIS Test Designer and ARIS BI Modeler (depending on the license key) ARIS Business Architect containing ARIS Business Publisher functions and ARIS BI Modeler (depending on the license key) ARIS Business Designer for SAP ARIS Process Automation Architect ARIS Business Optimizer

If you use the Business Solution license key during installation the method ARIS Business Strategy including associated reports, object symbols, etc. is automatically enabled. Provide SAP Java Connector (SAP JCo) for the clients. See page Configure system for ARIS for SAP or ARIS BI Modeler. Register the SAP Servers in ARIS, which users want to access. See Help > Help topics > Use SAP contents > Procedure > General > Register SAP Server.

ARIS Business Server and ARIS Process Governance server installation

Detailed descriptions are available in the Server Installation and Administration Guide located in the Docs > EN directory. Install ARIS Business Server and ARIS Process Governance server in one step. Have both license keys handy. Make SAP Java Connector (SAP JCo) available for ARIS Business Server. See page Make SAP Java Connector (SAPJCo) available on the server side. Import the transport request for the synchronization into the SAP system. See page Import transport request (synchronization). Import the transport request for customizing into the SAP system. See page Import transport request (customizing). Ensure that the Web services for the repository/scenario transfer are enabled in your SAP system and properly configured. See page Activate Web services.

Install ARIS Business Publisher Server

Detailed descriptions are available in the Server Installation and Administration Guide located in the Docs > EN directory. Install ARIS Business Publisher Server with the following options: ARIS Process Governance integration Oracle or MSSQL database system These database systems are not included in the product scope and need to be provided by you. You can configure the connection to ARIS Process Governance and the database system at a later time, too. The following lists the documents and help systems relevant for this solution. You access the clients' help systems from within the respective programs via the menu Help > Help topics. In Publisher exports and in the ARIS Business Publisher Server administration interface, click the question mark (?). The documents are stored on the installation media in the DOC > EN directory. Documents supplied in English only are listed in the file additional_documents_s.txt. After installation, documents and video tutorials can be opened via the program directory (Start > <ARIS program directory > > Documents > Videos > <Language>).
