HOW TO BE ALWAYS IN WORSHIP and to REACH THE DIVINE PRESENCE

By Sheikh Nazim We have been asked to think deeply about what we are doing, at every moment. This responsibility gives us honour. You must know what you are doing and for whom or what you are moving, running and asking. Think about it. What is your target? What you do for your ego, or this life, is false and will disappear. It is temporary, therefore it has no value. But what you do for Allah will be endless. If I am sitting then also my resting is for Allah. My movement, or rest, is for Allah. And I am surrendering to my Lord. What He is ordering me to do, I am running to fulfill it. The responsibility begins the moment you awaken. You must then look for what and whom you are doing whay you do and what is the benefit. And if there is no benefit for yourself, or another, then leave it, as that moment will call a cursing upon you. Everything for is Allah, and you make everything for Allah. (important point and rule). Everything that belongs to Allah must be for Allah. That is real faith and you have been ordered to keep that rule perfectly. As you know that everything is for Allah, then you must do everything for Allah. If living, then live for Allah, die for Allah, eat for Allah. If you are drinking then drink for Allah. If you are building, do it for Allah. If you are speaking you must speak for Allah. In this way everything is going to be worship. If every action and moment were to be for Allah, then Allah Almighty would carry that servant and support him, as he lives for Allah, and does everything for Allah. He must support him. People are falling like dead leaves from a tree. No longer wanting to do anything for their mother (tree). They only do everything for themselves and not considering about their Lord or doing anything for their Creator. They are fooled by the world (dunya). Only living for material things and not thinking fof their spirituality. We must take care of this twenty-four hours a day, but we are not even thinking about it for twenty four seconds. Everything is for Allah and you also are for Allah. So you must do everything for Allah.Allah is looking at your intention and if you intend Him, you will not be left in the hands of shaitan. No! Allah will keep you, and support you. He looks to your hearts and if He sees that you are working for your ego, or physical desires, He will be cutting the support. He is looking as to whether you are keeping to His way and orders, or not. If not, He may then leave you for a while, so that you will come back to yourself. If acting for Allah, your work is blessed, honoured and acceptable. If an action is not for

Allah you are wasting yourself and destroying your personality. Countless troubles should surround you. Look at your actions always. Is it for Allah or not? Look and check everyday, as to how many hours you have been for Allah, for how long were you in connection with the Divine Presence, or for how many hours were you present with your ego. Be careful to be for Allah, when eating, drinking, working, praying and for every moment. This will leave you strong and happy, and life will be sweet. Allah gave this life to believers to be sweet and nice, not to be hard and tasteless. Life is hard and tasteless for those who do not believe and for those doing bad deeds. Be for Allah. Live for Allah. Die for Allah. Nothing else matters. Leave them to take the whole world. They want to enjoy from the things of this world and to eat and to drink. However enjoyment is from Allah Almighty, and our hearts are for His endless blessings. By working for Allah, and through your obedience, He dresses you with Divine Lights. After that, you have only to protect and keep it. You must make a sacrifice of your physical beings desires, so that spiritual power can quickly and easily reach to your soul. Don?t lose your trust in your Creator who is saying, ?I am your guarantor for your eating and drinking.? ?If you are for me, I will make everything easy for you.? ?If you trust me I will never make you to tire.? This gives to you contentment and you wont think of anything except servant hood. He says, ?Trust me, I will make it easy.? (most important principle in Islam). Who is for Allah knows that Allah is enough? He is more than enough. We are believing and trusting Allah, and trying to be for His Divine Service. Keep that line. It is the safe way. Look for this honour and don?t look for honour from anything else. A building not built for Allah Almighty?s honour, and for the respect of Rasoolullah (sal) will fall down. If it is built for Him you will be happy, and there will be no burdens on you. Do something for Allah everyday. Know His rights. Work for Him and no one else. You may do everything, but you must try to do everything for Allah Almighty only. Do something so that Allah Almighty is going to be happy with you. If not you will fall into a deep ocean, so deep that no one may be able to pull you up. The way you live, will be the way you die, and the way that you will be resurrected. Live for Allah. Who follows what Prophets said, obeys Allah. Live for Him and you have nothing to fear. Some people say that we must learn, or we must do something thing else. No. Our whole life is for Islam, and Islam is for Allah. When you are stepping, make it a step for Allah. That is your practicing Islam. You must look to where you are stepping and to where you

are looking. Are you looking for Allah, or for your ego? When spread your hand and catch something you must look for whom you are carrying or touching. You must look to what you are hearing is it for Allah, or for your ego? When you are speaking you must see as to what you are speaking whether it is for you ego or for Allah? You are sitting or thinking for whom? You are sleeping for what? You are eating for strength or because of your Lords command? For whom is our every moment of every day, and our every breath? He who has reached to the station of a ?Real Deputy,? (we are all now candidates) must control every breath. Every breath of Allah will be Hu, Hu, Hu, Hu, (silently, inside). He who controls every moment, action and breath of his is the one who is a ?Real Deputy? of Allah. We must try to bring ourselves into that line. Don?t be alone. With every breath, don?t forget with Whom you are in existence. That is enough. That is practicing. If you do not forget, then every moment is a worshipping of Allah, or it is a service, for the Divine Presence. With every moment and every breath, you are serving and reaching to the Divine presence, then your name will be written to be a Divine Service Servant. Try it. It is a following. Don?t Waste Your Life. The End http://www.sheiknazim.com/portal-bin/content/view/279/126/

THE POWER OF CERTAINTY Versus BOOK-LEARNED KNOWLEDGE

It is impossible for a person to leave evil and to take the right path unless his Lord helps him. Therefore, we must ask help, divine help, for everything. You can?t take yourself away from evil if you do not ask for your Lord?s help, and you can?t put your step on a good way without asking help from your Lord. Therefore, when you are in need of leaving evil, you must ask divine help by saying, ?A?udhu bil-Lahi min ash-ShaytannirRajim.? That makes a protection, a fortress, for you. Any time you feel that Satan is

approaching you, you must say, ?O my Lord, Satan wants to make me his servant, to make me his follower. O my Lord, keep me away from him? ? that sort of a meaning. Even if we say it only with our tongues, it gives benefit, if you say it with your hearts, it is so strong. When you are asking to put your feet on the right path, you must say ?Bismilla hir Rahman nir Rahim.? In our time, if a person is asking to walk on the right path, one hundred Satans rush at him to catch his feet so that he cannot move them forward, and when you say ?Bismilla hir Rahman nir Rahim,? it takes them away and gives you power to walk on that straight path. Yes, that is true; ?Bismilla hir Rahman nir Rahim? is so powerful. That is the key to every miraculous power. To the extent that you may be certain of that, if you put your feet on water, you can walk on it. It is only certainty which can achieve that. Everyone knows something, but only a few people have certainty; knowledge may be for everyone but certainty is not. Hasan al Basri, may Allah bless him, was a famous Imam and during his time there was Habib al Ajami. He was not an Arab: from Persia or from Bukhara, such a person, and he recited the Qur?an as we recite, not as Arabs recite. Habib al Ajami was an illiterate person also. Once Imam Hasan al Basri came and saw Habib al Ajami praying the Maghrib prayer. When Hasan al Basri heard that that Sheikh was unable to say ?Al-hamdu? but pronounced it ?Elhemdu?, he thought, ?His recitation is not correct,? and did not pray behind him; he prayed alone. Then Allah Almighty?s Hatif ar Rabbani, divine voice, came (Allah Almighty sometimes ?phones? some of His beloved people and they listen to what their Lord says) ?Apart from that prayer which you did not pray behind Habib, I was going to accept all your prayers,? Allah Almighty said through ilham, inspiration, and Hasan al Basri listened. ?But you left that prayer. You are still looking at the words, not looking at the heart of the Imam, as to with whom his heart is. I look at the one who is Imam but I do not look at his recitation; I look at his heart. If his heart is with Me, that Imam is all right. If his heart is not with Me but is occupied with making his voice and his recitation beautiful, engaged with that and permitting his heart not be with Me, angels take that prayer to Me, But for the one whose heart is with Me when he prays, I accept his prayers directly without any intermediary?. Therefore, all prayers are of two kinds. One, of that sort of a person who is going to pray and when he says ?Allahu Akbar,? he casts everything aside and is with his Lord; Allah Almighty directly takes his prayers to his Divine Presence. But for the one who says ? Allahu Akbar? and through his prayer, is traveling, selling and buying, going and coming, sleeping and awaking, eating and drinking, running after this and that, angels take his prayer to Allah, But Allah Almighty directly takes the prayers of those who are with Him. ?O Hasan al Basri, I would have accepted all of your prayers for the sake of the prayer that you left because of the way in which it was recited. ?And Imam Hasan al Basri wept so much. Once Imam Hasan al Basri was sitting near the Tigris River in Baghdad, waiting for the

boat to come so as to cross over to the other side. Then Habib al Ajami came, saying, ?O Ustad, my master, what are you waiting here for?? Hasan al Basri said, ?I am waiting for the ferry boat, to cross from one side to the other.? ?You are the Imam even so you sitting here waiting for that raft? Come and say ?Bismillah? and walk?. Then Habib said ?Bismilla hir Rahman nir Rahim?,and walked on the Tigris and passed over. It was then that Hasan al Basri cried, ?This ?Ajami, this foreigner, an illiterate person, is crossing the Tigris and I am sitting here!? Yes. Hasan ?knew? what the power of ? Bismilla hir Rahman nir Rahim? is, but that foreign person had certainty; Hasan didn?t have enough certainty to say ?Bismilla hir Rahman nir Rahim? and to step on the water. Therefore, we are in need of more certainty, more than knowledge. That is important. But in our time people always run after learning so much. What is the benefit? You may learn so much and you forget so much. But certainty never leaves you. Certainty is the seed of knowledge; you can plant it and it grows up. Once when Habib-al?Ajami was sitting in front of his khaneqah, his takkiyah. Hasan alBasri came running. Hasan said, ?O Habib, hide me, because Hajjaj, the Calipha?s governor, is sending his soldiers to catch me. Hide me!? And Habib said. ?Go inside and hide yourself?. Hasan went in and finding a place, hid himself. Then afterwards, soldiers came running, asking Habib, ?Have you seen Hasan al-Basri?? ?Yes, I saw him inside, He is inside.? They went in and looked around, looking everywhere, everywhere, even going and peeping on Hasan al Basri?s head. He looked around in fear. Then the soldiers went out, saying to Habib, ?Now aren?t you ashamed, telling a lie? Where is he? Hajjaj will deal with the one who cooperates with Hasan al Basri, and that will be appropriate for you. You said that he was inside, are you not ashamed of lying!? ?Inside, I am not lying. He is inside.? Once again they searched;they couldn?t find him, then, very angry, the solders went away. Then Hasan al Basri came out. ?O Sheikh, what is this? I came to you asking you to help me and you told the soldiers, ?Inside?. ?Yes Hasan, ya Imam najaut min sidq il-kalam ? you were saved by my truth I told the truth and Allah protected you because I spoke truthfully. I said, ?O my Lord, this Hasan al Basri, Your servant, came to me and said, ?Hide me, keep me!? I can?t protect him. I entrust him to You, giving him to You as my trust. You Protect him.? I only said that and recited Ayat al-Kursi. For that reason the soldiers could not see him even Yes. If Allah Almighty protects His servant, it is all right. Awliya are deputies of our Lord Almighty. If a person runs to a wali and asks for protection, they may protect him, here and hereafter. Those are miracles for the awliya ? miracles for anbiya.

We are in need of some certainty. Once again, Hasan al-Basri came to visit that Sheikh. When he arrived, Habib al Ajami, may Allah bless him, brought two loaves of bread, putting them in front of him as a courtesy to his guest. Just as he was beginning to eat, someone who was hungry came and asked for something for the sake of Allah. Then that Sheikh, Habib al-?Ajami, took back the loaves from Hasan al Basri and gave them to that person. Then the Imam, Hasan al-Basri, said, ?O Sheikh, you are a good person, but if you had some more knowledge of the Shari?ah it would have been better for you. You should know a little about the Shari?ah: you are in need of that.? He meant to say, ?One loaf for me and one for that person, not taking the two and giving them away?. The Sheikh did not say anything. After awhile someone came to the door. The Sheikh ordered, ?See who is there.? A murid went and looked, saying, ?A person has brought a tray full of plates.? Then the Sheikh said, ?Bring the tray here. Now Imam, eat?. ?You know so much,? the Sheikh said to Hasan al Basri, ?but have little certainty. You must try to have more certainty.? Because he had certainty, that Sheikh knew that if he gave this for the sake of Allah, more than this must certainly come. ?You were angry with me when I took the two leaves, giving them to that person. Look! If I had not given both of them, this would not have come. I am certain that when I give, Allah Almighty will return it at least tenfold. Yes. Therefore, certainty gives more benefit to everyone, and we are in need of that. If there is no certainty, knowledge can never give benefit but is only like an ornament to enable people to say. ?We are doctors and we are scholars?. What is certainty? Someone said, ?If I put my hand in the mouth of a dragon and my heart is all right, it is never going to be afraid that this dragon will bite my hand, no. I know with certainty that only if my Lord gives the order will it bite. Therefore, without doubt, if I were to put my hand there, I would not be afraid.? Imam Sha?rani ? he is of the people of tawwakul, those who trust in their Lord totally ? said, ?Once I was traveling and it was near Maghrib time. I saw a dome and walked toward it. When I entered it, I saw that there was a tomb in it, under the dome, in ruins. ?After a short while peasants came running, saying, ?O Sheikh, you must not stay here but must come with us. Our village is nearby. This is a terrible place, particularly at night-time. So many snakes, big snakes, come out and if anyone sleeps here, in the morning we find only his bones, nothing else. They eat him; only bones are left. Therefore we are warning you not to sleep here?. Then Imam Sh?arani, may Allah bless him, said to the peasants, ?O my brothers, when you tell me that, I can?t move, I can?t take even one step out of this place. Because when you warned me about those big snakes, my ego was very afraid of them, and I was so

ashamed in front of my Lord because my nafs was so frightened of snakes and not fearing Allah Almighty but fearing snakes. Therefore I am not going with you. I can never accept your invitation. I must sleep here this night; it is better for such a ego that I be eaten by snakes. Therefore, it is impossible that I should leave this place.? Eh! The peasants said. ?You know best, Sheikh, you are the Sheikh. We don?t know. We are inviting you and we are also warning you about the snakes.? ?Yes. Thank you very much. You go and I will be here this night. If, without saying anything about snakes, you had come and invited me officially, ?Come with us.? It would have been all right, I might have come. But since you say, ?There are snakes, there is danger, this is a terrible place, ? I can?t move even one step from here. So go away.? They went, and in the morning they hurried back with shovels to bury shat Sheikh?s bones. And they saw that the Sheikh was sitting and making dhikr, and the snakes were, like wooden beams, beside him. When he lay down, they went around him; in that sandy place they made tracks, traveling around and hissing. And he was at rest. Yes; if you know your Lord and trust in Him, He protects you. If you are familiar with your Lord, everything is going to be familiar with you. That is certainty. Important! And we must try to improve in certainty, not trying to retain so many verses of the Qur?an and so many hadiths; but if we can acquire the secret power in them, that will be certainty for us. Whoever has it, may give it. The one who has something, may give it, if he doesn?t have it, how can he give? You ask bread from a person, for example. If he has it, he will give it to you; if not, he cannot give it. Certainty is with the prophets; their certainty brought Gabriel to them from Heaven. And awliya, also; certainty is with them. You can acquire certainty from those people. All awliya have certainty; you can?t find a wali without certainty. Therefore we are asking our Lord to enable us to find one of them so that we can acquire certainty from them; they give certainty. There are some lamps of only five watts, and some others of one thousand or maybe even ten thousand watts. As much as a person needs, they give, as much as you ask, they give certainty. We are in need of that. May Allah bless you and forgive you, and grant us certainty from His beloved people. The End

THE EYE OF THE HEART and the TUNNEL OF THE EGO

There are many different ways to make people to reach to Heavens. These ways are according to the different capacities abilities and characteristics of people. We use methods depending on the understanding of people and their beliefs. This is done according to their Will Power. What is most important is the Will Power of those who really want. Therefore we must see the level on which they are at that time so that we can take them from that point to their heavenly stations either slowly or quickly. Therefore we first ask of the seekers whether they are willing to be trained for their heavenly stations. That will power must come from the seekers themselves. Then the master of the Tariqat will give them something according to that level. Sometimes they do not give anything as it become first necessary to change certain characteristics within them, which will make them free to start moving upward. Sufi masters must have the Spiritual Powers so that when they look at someone they will know their capacity. It is important not to give anyone more than what they can carry. If he is overloaded he can be lost. We are on the level of being seekers and not even yet beginners. We must prepare ourselves and try to command our egos not to oppose what we ask. The main hindrance for each one is their ego. It does not want you to go towards Heavens as the ego is connected to the lowest level. The ego knows that if you leave it that it would be left forever and it will not be able to control you anymore. Therefore this is a battle between our egos and our souls. This is why we are trying to trick our egos so that it will not object to our need to reach the Heavens. Therefore when you are able to control yourself at the lowest level, which is your ego, then it would become easy to improve little by little towards Heaven. The Sufi masters give instructions, but then you must practice. If you are intending to do something you must ask me to help you and then my Spiritual Support will be with you. Anyone who asks for heavenly ways must find a Holy Person who knows his student?s capacities and abilities. When you have found him and when your heart is hundred percent confident of him then he will be your guide and he will take you upwards. This is like a train engine that is in front and it can still carry fifty or sixty wagons with it. Sometimes a second engine will join from behind and then it will be very easy. The first step for anyone must be to find within himself a demand for Heavens. When that is ready your Lord will assign someone for you. He will make you meet some of those people who know the way. When you have found him you can put your hook onto him and relax. At every station unless it is underground you will find so many different views that you have never seen before, but until you have cut the tunnel of your ego you will not have any visions but you will continue to travel underground. When you have conquered your ego, you will find new Worlds and new views that you have never seen before.

This is why you must be patient. You must not say, ?I am not seeing, hearing or feeling, any of these new visions, hearings or understandings?. Don?t ever say that. Maybe the tunnel of your ego is a short one and you can cut it easily and find yourself in endless distances designed with beautiful things, which you did not ever imagine before. Some people however continue traveling within their tunnels until the very end of their lives, but still they must keep to that way because at least in the last moment they will finish the tunnel of their ego, cut it and find the opening. We must now be patient to find someone who may be suitable for our path and in whom we can find confidence to follow. He will take us out of our egos. We will then move from darkness to light. Beware and take care to keep your station with that train and then one day, it could be in the morning or in the evening, it can be anytime, you can cut it and enter into a new life, new vision and a new World. Darkness will vanish and you will find the light. It is necessary first to have the desire in your heart. Develop it with your guide and improve it. When the engine reaches the destination, you will also get there. All masters are moving towards Heaven and through the Seven Heavens. But first you must cut the tunnel of your ego. There are forty-one different kinds of ways. All of them help us cut the tunnel of our egos. When you reach out of that tunnel you will find that there are no more bad desires remaining with you. You will be pure. At that moment you will taste the Sweetness of Lights, the Sweetness of Mercy, the Sweetness of Beauty, the Sweetness of Love, the Sweetness of Knowledge, the Sweetness of Wisdom, the Sweetness of Will Power and the Sweetness of Perfection. Until then you must be patient and follow. You must not say, ?Oh, how long do I have to follow without seeing anything?? No, the tunnel is according to your ego, long or short. May Allah grant you to reach your Heavenly Stations; you will then be happy, absolutely happy. http://www.sheiknazim.com/portal-bin/content/view/160/88/

KNOW YOURSELF to find THE HIDDEN IDENTITY

Don?t allow your mind to be busy with the world (dunya). Let yourself be with Allah Subhana wa Tala. Let your thinking and everything else be of Him. You are a human being and as such, the highest and most valuable of all creatures. You are honour to Allah, because you are created to be His servants. Honour is only for those who are in

servant hood, and they will have many people coming after them, trying to make them back off and to turn them away from their way. This is all they will ever be able to do, as they cannot take your heart in their grasp with their hands. They may reach to your physical body and take that away, but the Iman (certitude or belief) in your heart they cannot even touch. Your heart must either be with Allah, or with dunya (the world). One or the other. If it is with dunya, then their hands may reach to squeeze you. But if your heart is with Allah Subhana wa Tala then they cannot reach to you. He will protect you so that they are not able to reach to you. If your heart is with Allah, then your physical bodies? actions will never harm you. Never! You cannot imagine being close to Allah Almighty, physically, but when you are keeping your soul (heart) with Allah Almighty, then you become closer to His Divine Presence, and that carries your body to be also in the Divine Presence. But if you follow your physical desires, your soul cannot carry you to the Divine Presence. Those really alive are living with Allah. At least when we pray we must try to be with Allah Almighty, then it will be spreading after the prayer, and the blessings will be running through all of our actions throughout the twenty-four hours in a day. Honour is for ?alive people?. We made an oath on the Day of Promises, to Allah, that we would be with Him, and not leave Him. But now that we are here, we are leaving Him. Honour for believers, depends on their Nur (Divine Lights). Their rank and closeness to Allah, here and in the hereafter, depends upon it. So we must look for Nur. There is not one moment even be it for the duration of a blink of an eye that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sal) is not with Allah. If he is not with Allah, then with whom should he be? What else is there more important than to be with Allah? Is there anything that gives higher honour that to sit with Allah? Allah Almighty is saying, ?I am sitting with the one who is remembering me?? (hadith). If you are with Allah, Allah will be with you and this is what is required from you. Say, ?O my Lord, You are that which I am asking for.? This should be your aim.Someone who is intending to go somewhere, always has his destination as his aim and in his sight. Your aim must be to reach to the Ocean of Unity. All difficulties and problems are due to being distant from Allah. The one who is far from Allah, is not with Allah. The reason for all difficulties, sins, depressions, worries and all dangers in this world, and in the hereafter, is from being far away from Allah. All problems and complaints come from being far away from Allah. As for him who reaches to the Oceans of Unity, it becomes that he is with Allah. It is like a drop of water falling into the ocean, coming closer and closer to the ocean, and when it enters the Ocean, nothing is left of this drop of water. All Sufi Orders, especially the Naqshabandi Tariqa, encourages people, to ask to be with Allah. He is with you, but you are not with Him. He didn?t forget you. He is with you, wherever you are. Even in

barzakh, on the Day of Judgment, or in Paradise. There is no place where He is not with His servants. The time with Allah is of the highest rank, and is of the greatest value. Be with Allah. Where is Allah? Allah is the Creator. His existence is forever. He has no beginning and no end. None one can be like Himself. He is the Only One. You cannot ask, ?Where He is?? However you may ask, ?Where is He not?? ?Where is He not present?? ?Is there anywhere or any place that you are able to find without Allah?? Absolute existence is for Himself only. His existence fills everywhere. Do you know this to be the case, or not? Allah is ordering us, ?Don?t think about Myself (His Essence).? ?You can not.? ?It is prohibited to try and think about how I am? No! Forbidden. ?You can think about that which I created.? At least you may think about your own personality. You are now like one of those stone pyramids in Egypt. People, look at them and think that are only built from stone, with no doors or windows. ?Impossible!? ?For what purpose?? ?No gates or holes!?? But the time is coming when people will think seriously about how it is. And they will say, ?We must look into it and find out.? Then when they get deep into thought about it, the Lord of heavens will open a space to find a way inside. Now you are like a pyramid, thinking that you have no gates, no holes and no way to heavens. That you are like a stone building on earth. Running around, coming, going, eating, drinking and then finishing. But the Lord of heavens says that if you take serious care to find a way from you to you, you will find it. When He opens it, you should find your Lords way. But if you are not opening yourself, and knowing, then you cannot find a way to your Lord. (Or to know Him). The gateway to your Lord is through yourself. You are the door which you must open, and then find your Lord?s Divine Presence. He is with the smallest piece of mass. Even if it is smaller than an atom, yet He is with it. If He is not with it, then, there is no existence for it. Allah must be with everything of what He created. Therefore you may ask from Him. He is not away from you, but perhaps you are far away from yourself. This is because you you do not know yourself, physically or spiritually. No-one knows his personal identity and no-one knows what his ego (I-ness) is, or his soul. Yet your spiritual being is hidden from you. The road is long and the work difficult, in order to reach to its hidden identity. This must be done patiently, step by step. Allah Almighty likes for His servants to cry, shout and ask from Him, always. He likes for us to be like lions. The one with his Lord is like a lion and the one with his ego is like a jackal. The jackal is a dirty and harmful animal. The Lion is the king of the jungle. When he growls, everyone is in fear. The Lion never fears. All animals live in groups, but the Lion is single and doesn?t accept another in its area. Groowwl! The End
