Terminal Information Repeater Unit for PRS Window

System Description: 1. As the name signifies, Terminal information repeater unit is the display device which repeats/displays the online information or the data fed by the booking clerk into the terminal at PRS window. The above system helps in providing transparency between the customer and the booking clerk especially in case of status and fare. Customer can crosscheck the relevant data like source, destination, date, class etc before getting the ticket printed. This avoids inconvenience in case of any clerical mistake. The system also helps in increasing the output efficiency at the booking counter. All people in the queue can view the information displayed and one can change his/her form as per the status displayed. This saves the precious time that is wasted in inquiring at the booking window. Apart from the reservation data, the system is also capable of displaying accommodation enquiry information and PNR enquiry information. In case of PNR enquiry, current status of all the passengers on that ticket is displayed one by one. The device can show the information, like refundable amount, in case of cancellation. The device is capable of displaying train no in 5 digits. The system is a plug and play device and can be connected to the terminal with the help of the connecting lead provided with the system. The device is connected in such a way that any fault in the device does not effect the normal working of the terminal to which it is connected. The device runs on 230V AC, 50 Hz mains.

BLOCK DIAGRAM: CONNECTION OF TERMINAL INFORMATION REPEATER

The Video/Terminal is connected to the Data port (Mux) through a cable using three pins for data transfer as per RS-232 pattern. The terminal information repeater can be installed with the help of the cable provided with it, without cutting or modifying the existing cable, connecting the terminal with the data port. Although the terminal information repeater intercepts the data transfer between terminal and data port to capture and display the required information, but even if the power supply of the device is switched off or there is any failure, the normal working of the terminal is not disturbed at all.

For display, 7 x 5 dot matrix modules (20mm character height, Red color) of some reputed make should be used. The overall size of the equipment shall be approx. 16x7x2. The driver PCB should be connected to main PCB using proper connector and FRC cables to ease maintenance. The housing shall be made of either plastic or fiber or aluminium with good finish. The Baud rate shoule be auto adjustable without any change in hardware. The display should come to initial condition if there is no exchange of data from the terminal for some time duration. Apart form reservation form information, the device should also be able to display the information in case of Accommodation enquiry and PNR enquiry. In case of accommodation enquiry the FARE window must display ENQ . In case of PNR enquiry the device should display the current status of all the passengers on that ticket one by one. The device must be able to display special conditions like No Room. The device must be able to display the information in case of cancellation of a ticket. The device must show the refundable amount. The device should work in case of current reservation booking and tatkal booking. In case if the device is installed at UTS counter, it must work for unreserved normal journey tickets. The Train no. field should display type of train i.e. Mail/Exp, Ordinary or Superfast. The status field should display no. of adults and child like A2 C3 etc. i.e. The device should be compatible and interchangeable to both PRS and UTS dump terminals without any modification to either software or hardware at field level.
