Get the Ss revise vocabulary (travel); 2. Get the Ss describe one of their journeys; 3. Get the Ss talk about the main ideas of the two articles; 4. Get the Ss find differences between the two articles; 5. Get the Ss report questions. Skills covered: 1. Reading; 2. Speaking; 3. Writing. Methods: conversation, role-play, reading approach, explanation. Materials: textbook, work-sheets. Activity 1: Get the Ss check their homework. Procedure: Selected Ss read their homework. The other Ss check for errors and explain the correct form if necessary. The teacher offers further support whether certain aspects are not fully understood. Activity 2: Get the Ss describe one of their journeys. Procedure: Ss answer some specific questions regarding their last holiday, the means of transport they used to depart to destination, the arrival, and their unique feelings on the way. Activity 3: Get the Ss read the articles, and talk about the subject, the people involved in the discussion, and the differences between the two texts. Procedure: Two Ss stand for Matt and the reporter while reading their lines. Other selected Ss read the fragments of the second article. The teacher explains unknown words, if any. Ss make a description of the articles, covering the main topic, the form of the two texts and find differences between the content of the interview and that of the reported transcription. The discussion is focused on verb forms and word order.

Activity 4: Get the Ss find reported questions in the second article. Procedure: The teacher writes one example on the blackboard and helps the Ss find reported questions in the second article. Ss identify the examples and read them aloud. Activity 5: Get the Ss report questions. Procedure: The teacher formulates explanations according to textbook examples. A theoretical background is provided as follows: A. We use reported speech when we make somebody elses words part of our own sentence. B. The verbs in the reported speech go back a tense in the past. C. When we report questions, the subject comes before the verb. D. When reporting questions we dont use the auxiliary verb do, except in negative questions. E. We report Y/ N questions with if/whether: Have you fed the dog She asked me whether I had fed the dog. Ss are asked to cover the right column of the language focus box and try to report questions given in the first column with some help from the teacher. Ss answer the questions from exercise 3/c (role-play method). Ss report previously answered questions and write them on their notebooks (5 minutes). The teacher checks for errors. One by one, Ss are asked to write the reported questions on the blackboard. Activity 6: Similar to the latter (optional). Procedure: Work-sheet: Report the following questions: 1. Do you enjoy the party? 2. Who do you see? 3. Where do you go to school? 4. Where did you go to school? 5. Why are you crying? 6. What time does the train leave?
