The Real Power of God

Today we hear the story of a very powerful man. This
man was a centurion he was a soldier who had 100 men working under him. Whenever he told somebody to do something, he did it! Whenever he told somebody to go somewhere, he went!
But still, this centurion came to Jesus and asked HIM for something. He didnt tell Him to do it. He asked Him. The centurions servant was sick, and the centurion knew that Jesus Christ could make him better. Christ told him, I will come and heal him. But the centurion told Christ, I am not worthy for you to come to my house, but only say the word, and he will be healed.
Who is the most powerful person you know? Your parents? Your teacher? The bishop? The president? Nobody is more powerful than God. And nobody is more loving. Lets all follow the great example of this centurion. He knew that his power didnt mean anything. He knew that God was the one with the real power!

ST. PANTELEIMON, HEALER OF THE SICK

Have you known somebody who was sick? Sometimes we dont know what to do, except be sad or feel sorry for him or her. But God and the saints are here to help us. They listen to our prayers. We just have to ask them, and they will ask God to help us and help our sick friend or relative!
St. Panteleimon is a great saint to pray to when somebody is sick. He lived many years ago, and died in the year 303. He was a doctor, but he used medicine and his faith in God to heal his patients.
St. Panteleimon, the Once, St. Panteleimon helped a blind man Great Martyr and Healer see again. He also told him about Jesus Christ. The man was so happy that he told other people about what had happened. Soon, other people started to become Christians too! The Roman authorities were not happy about this because they did not believe in Christ, and they wanted people to worship the Roman gods. They wanted people to worship the emperor, too!

Can you find it?

Your priest has lots of parts to his vestments. The big cape is called a phelonion. When we see it, we think of the robe Christ wore before He was crucified.

The Roman authorities arrested St. Panteleimon and they tortured and killed him. We can pray to St. Panteleimon when anybody is sick. And we always remember what St. Panteleimon knew This power to help people came from God, and we thank God for it!

St. Panteleimon Day is on Saturday, July 27th.
