CIMflex Meets Your Academic Requirements

Educational CIM An educational CIMflex system focuses on automated industrial management with an emphasis on research and programming tools. The stations in the CIM cell are equipped with educational yet fully automated hardware components. This type of CIM cell enables significant CIM study and training even when budget and space are limited. Students use the simulation capabilities of OpenCIM, robotics and CNC software to gain proficiency in the management and integration of automated manufacturing processes. Industrial Training CIM An industrial CIMflex system is configured to function as an automated factory that performs large production runs with infrequent retooling. The system is equipped fully and exclusively with industrial grade equipment and supports the design, manufacture and testing of products and components. Serving to prepare students for the transition into industry, this CIM provides high quality laboratory experiences in automated manufacturing technologies and management methodologies. Educational and Industrial CIM A combination educational-industrial CIMflex system is a versatile CIM cell that enables the design and development of products and provides the "shop floor" for manufacturing them. This type of CIM has a mixture of stations equipped with educational and light industrial hardware. The system can include a project integration station for CIM manufacturing of student-designed applications. The open configuration represents an automated factory that provides flexibility for small and varied production runs and fast product delivery.

CIMflex for the Future

Experience with integrated technologies in educational programs not only prepares students for careers in automated manufacturing environments. It also broadens their perspective and enhances their ability to adopt and implement new and sophisticated manufacturing and management methods and technologies.

CIMflex: The CIM Solution

As manufacturers increasingly bring CIM technologies into their organizations, so too grows the need for technicians, programmers, engineers and managers who are knowledgeable and skilled in these technologies. In keeping with Intelitek's mission to bridge the gap between classroom and industry, the CIMflex system offers sophisticated and flexible solutions for educating and training students in the principles and technologies of computer integrated manufacturing.

OpenCIM: Open Environment Software

Automated Storage and Retrieval (ASRS)

CIM Stations
FMS Stations
Flexible manufacturing (FMS) workstations can be created by combining any of our vertical articulated robots with any of our CNC machines or a laser engraver. The robot can be mounted on a linear slidebase to provide mobility and increase its work area.

Automated Arc/MG Welding Station

A robotic welding station can be configured with any of Automated welding station our vertical articulated with SCORBOT-ER 4u robot robots. A tool exchange unit enables alternating use of the robot gripper and the welding torch, making the workcell fully automated. The welding station is enclosed within a fire retardant metal booth and complies with the strictest safety requirements.

Additional processing stations broaden students' training opportunities in automated manufacturing technologies: Pneumatic Feeding Station inspects, sorts and feeds raw materials. A pneumatic manipulator tends the station.

OpenCIM software provides a comprehensive solution for the study and practice of CIM methods and operations. OpenCIM gives students understanding and experience in the concepts, components and software tools that comprise an integrated CIM system. OpenCIM lets students translate theoretical manufacturing methods and processes into actual CIM applications. OpenCIM's 3D graphic display module dynamically and accurately simulates the CIM components and processes. It provides online graphic tracking of the manufacturing processes and off-line simulation for testing production runs before actual execution. It also lets students design virtual CIM cells and experiment with various configurations. OpenCIM is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) tool that incorporates the latest advancements in CIM and software technologies. The software also implements manufacturing execution system (MES) technology - it integrates real-time information with the system's PCbased database and maintains online communication with all subsystems through a LAN. OpenCIM's open architecture enables end-user integration of third-party software and hardware components, making it easy to expand and customize the CIM system.

CIMflex offers automatic storage and retrieval (ASRS) systems ranging from 6 storage cells to 72 storage cells, all of which resemble and perform the functions of industrial ASRS systems. Part templates supplied with the ASRS have pegboard design and pins for creating jigs to hold objects of various shapes and sizes. A laser barcode scanning system provides on-line identification and verification of templates.

Hydraulic Pressing Station stamps and assembles parts. A 4-axis hydraulic manipulator tends the station.

Assembly Station
An automated assembly station can be configured with a SCARA or a vertical articulated robot, and can include one or more devices for assembly operations, such as: Pneumatic vise Automatic parts feeder Automatic glue dispenser Automatic screwdriver Quality control devices and operations can also be integrated in the assembly station.

Process Control Station: performs coating treatment of aluminum parts with control of air pressure and fluid level, flow and temperature.

Loop Conveyor
CIMflex systems are formed around a continuous loop conveyor that moves pallets to the various CIM stations. For greater efficiency pallets are not removed from the conveyor but instead carry part templates which are loaded and unloaded at each station by robots and manipulators. Pallet tracking and control is enabled by magnetic codes and sensors and a PLC unit. The conveyor can accommodate any number of workstations and can be configured to fit the specific needs and physical dimensions of your school's lab. It can be narrow, round, L-shaped, tabletop mounted and up to 25 meters in length.
