Take Action Project 1. Describe the issue your project will address and who is your target audience. The issue I will be addressing in my project is to connect kids to a community need on a emotional level through art. I will be the art director in Gotta Dance's Summer 2013 production. Each year from now on will have a charitable theme and this years theme is Hurricane Sandy. I will be creating 2 collages/mosaics for Gotta Dance's Dynamite Dance team as part of the dancer's input into the event and cause. I want the dancers, my target audience, involved in the dance team to be part of the event itself in incorporating their feelings and developing a deeper sense of what it means to help others affected in a cause through art by making a piece of the mosaic/collage that will create a big picture as a whole that is appropriate for each years theme. One or two questions depending on the theme, will be asked of the girls and will be 2

required to answer this question in a word; "how does __ make you feel in one word?" and etc. I will provide them with materials and supplies and they will make a piece to attach to a backdrop i created and each will reflect their emotions relating to the hurricane. By the time it is complete we have over 100 pieces reflecting the collective feelings and perspective of the dancers and instructors. 2. Discuss your reasons for selecting this project. I chose to do this as my Gold Award project because personally, art is a huge portion of my life and interests. It will mean a lot if I am able to bring my love of art into a huge project like the Gold Award and participate in an experience such as acting as an art director of this huge event. My actions and ideas will leave a mark on the event for years to come in future shows and to the families and performers as well. 3. Outline the strengths, talents, and skills that you plan to put into action. What skills do you hope to develop? My strengths, talents, and skills I plan to put into action is my exceptional background in art, leadership, in guiding and helping others though the course of the production. I hope to develop a better ability in interacting and cooperating with other people of all ages as it's an important skill in the working world especially while collaborating. These hours I will spend on my project will provide me precious experience for my future in the art field. 4. Describe the steps involved in putting your plan into action, including resources, facilities, equipment, and approvals needed. (Attach a detailed project plan.)

5. List the people or organizations you plan to inform and involve. People and organizations I plan to inform and involve is Jana Belot, Creative Director of Gotta Dance, the dance studio hosting the yearly fundraiser events who will be my project advisor. As added assistance, Sarah, and instructor at Gotta Dance will be assisting me as well on my project. 6. Estimate overall project expenses and how you plan to meet these costs (use Budget sheet). Jana Belot gave me a budget of $1000 to work with and this money will go toward procuring materials to complete the project such as canvas, for the completed project and art supplies for the girls to work on their piece for the mosaic. 7. What methods or tools will you use to evaluate the impact of your project? Methods and tools I will use to evaluate the impact of my project is to hear responses of those also involved in the event(s) and Gotta Dance Company and also the responses of years to come once the project is sustained without me. 8. How will your project be sustained beyond your involvement? My project will be sustained beyond my involvement by teaching someone familiar or close with the Gotta Dance Company or volunteers and i will teach and inform that volunteer via a document I will type up once my part has finished and will be followed down to next person like a chain. 3

9. Describe how you plan to tell others about your project, the projects impact, and what you have learned (Web site, blog, presentations, posters, videos, articles, and so on). I plan to tell others about my project, it's impact and what I have learned by taking pictures and possibly videos and post them to my facebook page and blog.
