    Word was getting out that Ford was readying a new Mustang for 1992. Sources were saying that the all-new Mustang would come with a stable of engines, including a 4.6-liter V8 producing 300 hp along with a modular rear suspension. Other rumored features for the car included an adjustable suspension system from the cockpit, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and speed-sensitive steering. Those who saw preliminary renderings stated that the new Mustang was inspired by the Porsche 928. Due to future suspension refinements and a modular motor, the designers were given more freedom, allowing them to lower the nose of the car, extend the doors and have the side glass wrap over the rear pillars. Ultimately, the fourth generation Mustang debuted in 1993 for the 1994 model year, losing the blocky styling cues for a smoother, evolved shape.
