What is the credit transfer policy of CASE? As per CASE policy up to a maximum of 9 credit hours studied at an HEC recognized university can be transferred which are not already included in earning any degree previously. The limit of 9 credits hours also includes transferable credit hours earned at CASE through continuing education. Will the entry test be held in other cities? Yes, but it depends upon the number of applicants in other cities. Will the entry test be held on the bases of old or new version of GRE? The entry test will be held on the basis of old version of GRE as the pattern paper is available on the website. What are the basic requirements for admission in M.Sc. Computer Engineering? Basic requirements are as follows:

Degree program at CASE is for those having degree of B.E (Avionics, Computer, Electrical) but those having done M.Sc. Computer science, BCS (four year), M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Electronics, or M.Sc. Mathematics are eligible as well for degree program at CASE. In undergraduate, CGPA must be 2.7 or above or percentage 68 % or above

In case of having non engineering background students would be required to study pre requisite courses. How many credit hours can be transferred to M.Sc.? Maximum of 9 qualified (minimum GPA of B or greater than 70% marks) credit hours can be transferred from an HEC recognized university. GPA of a transferred course does not count towards CGPA calculation. Descriptions of the courses (to be transferred) studied elsewhere must be provided. Please note that credits already consumed to earn a degree cannot be transferred. Note: GPA of transferred course from CASE counts towards CGPA calculation (see below). Is there a time limit on the transfer of courses? Yes, only the courses taken in the past three years before the time of registration as a regular student at CASE may be transferred. Courses taken more than 3 years before the registration will not be transferred. What is the duration for M.Sc. at CASE? There is no minimum duration for M.Sc. but maximum duration is four years. What is the duration for Ph.D. at CASE? Students are supposed to complete their Ph.D. in maximum of seven years. What is Continuing Education program? Continue Education is a non-degree program for working professionals who cannot spare time for a complete degree but have the intention to enhance their knowledge in their

respective field. Three courses studied under continuing program can later on be transferred toward a degree program. Is there any concession for army personnel at CASE? No concession for army personnel particularity but you can apply either on need based financial assistance Is there any concession for people having intention to join CASE in group? Fee concession can only be given to the organizations sponsoring their employees in a group. Currently, individuals can apply for fee concession to the financial assistance committee before the deadline of registration. Will simple B.Sc. degree holder (Math +Physics) be eligible for M.Sc. program? As per policy, having above-mentioned background is not eligible for M.Sc. degree program at CASE. What about Distance Learning program? Distance learning program is for those working professionals who are not able to attend classes in CASE premises due to residence at distant locations. Recorded video lectures on CDs are sent on regular basis to distant students and they also have access to an online forum, where their queries are answered, while assignments are submitted through email. Exams are conducted under supervision at remote locations. Can the PGD holder in computer science / IT apply for M.Sc. program at CASE? PGD holder cannot apply for the M.Sc. degree program. Only BCS four year or M.Sc. computer science / MS in computer science are eligible for the degree program at CASE. Can MCS or M.Sc. Computer Science apply directly for Ph.D? The candidate must possess at least four years Bachelors degree or M.Sc. degree from a recognized university in Electrical / Electronics / Computer Engineering. Can the Result awaiting students apply for the degree program at CASE? Result awaiting students cannot apply for the degree program. They have to complete their degree fist and then apply. Is the person having masters degree in space science eligible for M.Sc Computer Engineering program at CASE? No, such degree holder is not eligible for M.Sc. degree program at CASE. A PhD student for the purpose of these policies is the one who has been assigned a PhD roll number from UET Taxila and is in good academic standing. When can I start research by enrolling in research credit hours? You can enroll in research credit hours when your:

Course Plan has been approved. Supervisor has been assigned; is willing to supervise the research and has given formal approval allowing the student to register in the research credit hours. DQE has been cleared.

Request to enroll for research has been approved by the Departments chairman in writing. When can I take DQE? As a PhD student you are eligible to appear for DQE after completion of PhD

coursework. Student has CGPA 3.50 out of scale 4.00. What are the contents of DQE? DQE consists of two parts: written paper (DQE Part I) and interview (DQE Part II). DQE Part I will consist of questions based on courses from PhD course plan and MEM core courses. It is assumed that you have passed core courses if you have earned MEM from CASE. All the direct entrants to PhD programs with Masters in Engineering Management from other institutions may take some of the core courses if they have not covered those subjects in their Masters program or prepare themselves by reviewing the lecture CDs of core courses from CASE library. For DQE Part II, a panel of experts will conduct an interview. They will assess the candidate for his/her suitability for PhD candidacy. The panel may judge the candidate for research potential, ability to follow the rigors of PhD program, knowledge of technical field of interest, professional maturity, presentation skills, communication skills and other relevant skills. How many chances do I have to pass DQE? You have two chances each to clear DQE Part I and Part II What is DQE Qualification Criteria? DQE Part II (Interview) will be conducted only after the student has qualified the written test. The student will have two chances to clear DQE Part II. Those who cannot clear DQE Part I and Part II (each in two attempts) will not be allowed to continue their PhD studies at CASE. This will supersede any previous rules on the subject.
