Develop an orientation program for new entrants at Iqra University:

Welcome students!
We warmly welcome all new students who will be attending The IQRA UNIVERSITY for the first time in FALL 2013. Fall is a thrilling time for all of us as we gear up for another exciting year and welcome our new students. To introduce you to our campus community, we host a number of activities and programs before classes begin, so you can become familiar with the university's array of resources, meet new people, and make new friends. This Orientation Programme is designed to help you settle into university life in an easy and enjoyable way. There are a range of introductory activities and talks designed to give you the best possible start. Campus tours and a range of social events are also on offer. We hope you will take advantage of them as a way of getting to know your way around and meeting new people. We especially commend the UniGuides (current students) to provide support and mentoring over the course of the semester to new students. Our staffs, UniGuides and Student are always ready to help you, whether its showing you where your lectures will be held, how to access the Universitys many services or to answer any queries you may have.

Introduction:
The IQRA University is chartered by the Government of Sindh vide Sindh Government Ordinance No.VI of 2000 having Campuses in all the 4 Provinces and is having collaboration with foreign universities. We offer a diverse range of graduate and postgraduate courses as well as PhD programmes of International level in Management Sciences, Computer Sciences and Engineering, Education and Learning Sciences, Media Sciences, and Fashion Designing. Being pioneer in private-sector higher education in Pakistan, we are proud that IQRA University plays an important role as a leader and pace-setter in higher education in Pakistan. IQRA University is committed to providing university education of the highest quality to prepare students for professional and managerial positions. The mission is to offer students the opportunity for personal growth and development, skill enhancement, or professional job advancement through the provision of high quality education. At all Campuses, we incessantly strive to create congenial learning environment with lots of facilities. Technologically equipped classrooms, with high-tech computer laboratories with internet facilities and rich Information Resource Centre are established at all the Campuses for comprehensive academic training. Special services, such as, placement, transport and housing, etc., are also provided to the students.

We see ourselves as a multi-dimensional educational institution. Our aim is to use the best teaching and training methodologies. IU research centre:
IQRA Research Centre is a leading department responsible for innovation, building interdisciplinary and international networks and for focusing on research on important public/private sectors issues. The department keeps a liaison with academic researchers, policy makers and related professionals and partner globally. The department keeps on updating the outline of various courses in accordance with needs of the job market. Master Course outlines in various disciplines of Applied Economics and Research are in place. Quality lectures supplemented by references materials are produced. Peer evaluation and mentoring are regular features. The department organizes Workshops, Seminars and Group discussions on burning national and international issues. Seminars on occasions such as Annual Budget are organized at regular intervals.

The university is managed by a group of dedicated professionals and academicians who have committed their lives to the cause of higher education in Pakistan. Iqra University Student Council is a unique group of students who possess strong leadership skills that requires organizational and time-management skills. This group of exceptional leaders, work together with faculty advisors to plan and execute various events. Student council is a body of young, ambitious individuals, cutting across different programs, plays the conduit between the administration and students. They hosts, among other activities, entertainment events and guides fellow students in addressing issues related to their campus life. Iqra University places special emphasis on arranging research programs, seminars, workshops and symposium. A healthy, peaceful and beautiful environment plays a crucial role in the mental, physical and social development of students. IU offers a spacious sports complex for sports and recreational activities. The campus has the most modern equipment and offers the following facilities:

Iqra University also has agreements with various clubs to provide additional sporting facilities to the students.

o Library:
At IQRA University the systems applied in the organization of libraries make access to information quick and simple. Supplied with the latest books, periodicals, magazines and journals, the departmental/seminar libraries at different institutes and colleges provide the students with a comprehensive collection of books in the particular areas of studies. 1. INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTRE (IRC): Keeping in view the requirements of the students Information Resource Centre of the University is having more than 40000 books on different subjects, covering all topics of curriculum, professional and general reading material. Latest editions of the leading text books and reference publications are being continuously added in IRC to meet the HEC, PEC & users requirements. The Resource Centre has up-to-date record of Government publications relevant to the curriculum and is one of the best sources of secondary data for educational purposes. These online journals sources are widely used all over the globe and it gives access to the more than 10000 online journals. The Library also subscribes IEEE and ACM journals via online as well as in the print format. We also subscribe more than 120 national and international journals for the students of Business, Engineering, Computer Science and Media Science. More than 27 international journals with more than 1 impact factor are also available in our collection. Ten English and Urdu dailies with additional copies are available in the Library for the students and the faculty members. The Resource Centre is also having huge collection of selected Movies for Media Science students in Media IRC Server. The Resource Centre is having text data of selected articles published in the local newspapers as well as in the bibliographic data of articles published in the national and international journals. Presently, there are more than 25000 articles stored in the IRC database and full text of articles can be retrieved and downloaded by using various searching techniques. We have thousands of E-books related to different subjects which are also available in our Resource Centre Database. The Library provides SDI service of the students & scanning local newspaper articles via e-mail for the faculty, PhD & M.phil students. Monthly mailing alerts for faculty. The Library has 30 computers to facilitate the students for their routine work and research purpose. The Library maintains the policy of continuous enhancement and updating its collection through nonstop acquisition of material. We are in a process to provide on-line Library services by using the web base technologies.

Book bank : Book Bank for the Engineering Students has been established and all the students of the Engineering Department can get 03 books issued for the whole semester without paying additional fee. This facility will also be extended to the students of the Business Administration in future. 3. IRC facilities: Students, staff and faculty members of Iqra University can access these facilities to follow the mentioned procedures. 4. o Scholarship:
IQRA University is committed to working with all deserving students to assist them in financing their graduate education. Our financial aid programme includes need-based grants and scholarships, merit-based fellowships, educational loans, work-study and teaching assistantships. IQRA offers free ships (100% tuition fee off) to all position holders of all the National Boards and Universities in the programmes of their choice in the first semester. Merit Scholarships are awarded each semester to position holders on the basis of CGPA earned with full semester load. o Computer labs: (computer resource centre) Computing network at Iqra University comprises more than 375 nodes providing multiple computing environment running latest softwares on contemporary servers. Research facilities are available for Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Digital Signal Processing.

Unlimited internet facility is available to all students of the university. All students maintain their individual accounts for the purpose of maintaining security.

Focus on our target population, which consists of five prospective groups: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. First-time freshmen Community college transfers Graduate students Non-traditional students Diverse student body

In addition to the general marketing approach for the university, each of these groups requires its own marketing approach, based on the following assumptions (to be used flexibly):

1. First-time freshmen rarely select a university for a particular major, program, or academic field. They are attracted by image, reputation, cost, campus location, campus life, etc. 2. Community college transfers and graduates, on the other hand, have a more focused reason for selecting a campus: career, programs, convenience, etc. 3. Graduate students have a clear career purpose and seek an institution for the strength of specific graduate programs and their reputation in the field. 4. Non-traditional students are more difficult to categorize, because each is nontraditional in a different way. Nevertheless, we can focus on offering them: a. Opportunity (Iqra University as a place where they can pursue their dreams) b. Comfort. Diverse Student Body is a broad category that includes minority students and students from other countries. Our primary focus should be on minority students, who fall in all the categories above. Our emphasis should be on showing that our campus values

cultural diversity and is responsive to the specific needs of its students. While we should continue to be very receptive to international students, our support infrastructure is not solid enough at this time to make this group a primary marketing target. Target Audiences Traditional Freshmen

Traditional students are the most sought-after group of potential students. Over the past few years, there has been a decline in the registration of traditional freshmen students due to the competition from other higher education institutions. This is a difficult group to engage, since many of them want to pursue a traditional college experience, which includes living in student housing and getting away from home. Iqra University stands out from other universities by offering small class size and a caring, involved faculty. While Iqrais not offering student housing at this time, it does provide a beautiful, appealing campus atmosphere with some of the newest university. In addition, Iqra offers a wide variety of academic programs. Target Audiences Non-Traditional Students

While we have spent a great deal of time targeting first-time freshmen, we should consider the benefits of targeting groups that typically do not receive the same amount of marketing from higher education institutions.

Although five target populations have been chosen, there are associated groups, who have great influence over these potential students that need to be marketed. 1. 2. 3. 4. A marketing initiative needs to be developed to recruit not just the potential students, but also these groups that are influencing factors in their decision to pursue degree.
