MATHEMATICS WEEK- 15th July, 2013 20th July, 2013 Education should be started with mathematics for it forms

s well designed brains that are able to reason right. It is even admitted that those who have studied mathematics during their childhood should be trusted, for they have acquired solid bases for arguing which become to them a sort of second nature. To celebrate the Mathematician in all of us, The Mathematics Week, celebrations started in DPSG on 15th July, 2013. Different Mathematical activities like Bulletin Board, Mathematics Assembly, Mathematics Relay, 3D Snowflakes, Mathematics Tambola, Mathematics Bingo, Sudoku Puzzles, Kenken Puzzles, Kakuro Puzzles etc have been planned for the week for different classes. It will help the students discover their latent interests in the subject. During this week the students will get the golden opportunity to interact with eminent educationists like: Prof. Hukum Singh (Dean Academics, NCERT, New Delhi) Dr. Monica Gupta (Director, ABES IT)- Parent Representative Dr. Saurabh Priyadarshi (IITians Pace) Mr. Manish Ahuja(PGT DPSG) This interaction would be truly enriching for the students as they would greatly benefit from the expertise of these experts.

DAY1 The ever enthusiastic students have already started preparing vibrant, informative and picturesque bulletin boards on the following topics: Class VI- Mathematics Around Us Classes VII & VIII- The Makers of Mathematics Classes IX & X- Life of Pie Think, drop, colour, cut, paste, beg, borrow and steal are the buzz words.

DAY 2 Activities like Sudoku, Kenken, Kakuro, Mathematical Mazes etc. help in developing logical reasoning and increasing calculation skills. The purpose of Mathematical Puzzles and Mazes is to challenge the brain and churn out logical solutions. Class VI- Find The Way Out- Mathematical Mazes Class VII- Mathematical Word Search Class VIII- Sudoku Puzzles Class IX- Kenken Puzzles Class X- Kakuro Puzzles
