anxiety can be termed as several disorders that an individual will tend to face like fear, nervousness and also

start to worry for simple things. these disorders will affect the person's behaviour. there are different types of anxiety disorders: 1) generalised anxiety disorder(GAD) 2) social phobia (social anxiety disorder) 3) panic disorder 4) obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD) and, 5) post-traumatic stress disorder these are some of the main anxiety disorder, Using brain imaging technology and neurochemical techniques, scientists have discovered that the amygdala and the hippocampus play significant roles in most anxiety disorders. the symptoms of anxiety disorder are nightmares, palpitation, dry mouth, shortness of death, uncontrollable obsessive thoughts etc.. its a common disorder tat every one faces in their daily life, its a very serious disorder which can create mental illness to a person and affect him seriously.

GENERALISED ANXIETY DISORDER:this disorder involves unrealistic worry and tension, even if there is little or nothing to provoke the anxiety.it is basically a mood disorder which is featured by non-specific worries. GAD makes a person to suffer from simple illness which can be very dangerous when this perticular disorder keeps on occuring all the time, these simple problems involves worrying about money, work, family etc.. but they have trouble both identifying the specific fear and controlling the worries. Sufferers expect failure and disaster to the point that it interferes with daily functions like work, school, social activities, and relationships.GAD can be diagnosed when excessive anxiety and worry keeps on occuring continuessly or constabtly at least for 5 months. The illness is not due to the direct physical effects of a substance (like a drug of abuse or a medication) or a general medical condition and does not only occur during a mood disorder, psychotic disorder, or a pervasive developmental disorder. The prognosis for GAD is that, if not treated at the right time the sickness may last upto 20 years. Therefore, the treatment for GAD might atleast take a year to prevent its recurrence. If professional suspects of medical or mental care get to know that the person is suffering from GAD disorder the individual will have to go through extensive medical interview and some physical exam. For the treatment of GAD it usually includes the combination of medication and cognititve behavioural theraphy. There are some support groups for GAD: ABIL (agoraphobics building independent lives)A.I.M (agoraphobics in motion)

OBSESSIVE COMPULSION DISORDER:People with OCD are plagued by constant thoughts or fears that cause them to perform certain rituals or routines. The disturbing thoughts are called obsessions, and the rituals are called compulsions. An example is a person with an unreasonable fear of germs who constantly washes his or her hands. Its a very disturbing kind of disorder which will make a person to get trapped in an endless cycle of repetitive thoughts and behaviors. The illness affects as many as 12 out of every 1000 population. People with OCD often realize that their obsessional thoughts are irrational, but they believe the only way to relieve the anxiety caused by them is to perform compulsive behaviors, often to prevent perceived harm happening to themselves or, more often than not, to a loved one. Compulsions are repetitive physical behaviors and mental thoughts which are performed over and over again. It is said that there are mainly four types of OCD which the person may fall under- checking, contamination/mental contamination, hoarding and intrusive thoughts. Studies report that OCD type symptoms are experienced at one time or another by most people in times of stress, depression. However, OCD the main type can have a devastating impact on the individuals life, education, relationship and work. OCD is diagnosed when the obsessions and compulsions consume excessive amount of time, cause distress and anguish, interfere with the normal functioning at home, school, college or the work area. Prevalence of OCD Lifetime prevalence in the general population estimated at 2 to 3 percent. 10 percent of outpatients in psychiatric clinics. OCD is the fourth most common psychiatric diagnosis after phobias, substancerelated disorders, and major depressive disorder. Among adults, men and women are equally likely to be affected Among adolescents, boys are more commonly affected than girls. More than half of patients with OCD have a sudden onset of symptoms. The onset of symptoms for about 50 to 70 percent of patients occurs after a stressful event. The course is usually long but variable; some patients experience a fluctuating course, and others experience a constant one. About 20 to 30 percent of patients have significant improvement in their symptoms, and 40 to 50 percent have moderate improvement. The remaining 20 to 40 percent of patients either remain ill or their symptoms worsen. About one third of patients with OCD have major depressive disorder, and suicide is a risk for all patients with OCD. Obsessive-compulsive disorder treatment can be difficult, and treatment may not result in a cure. The individual may need treatment for the rest of your life. However, OCD treatment can help you bring symptoms under control so that they don't rule your daily life. The two main treatments are psychotherapy and medications wherein which option is best for you depends on your personal situation and preferences. Often, treatment is most effective with a combination of medications and psychotherapy. The co-occurrence of anxiety disorders is a cruel double blow because individually this disorder can be very challenging to diagnose and treat. It is accompanied by a degree of social stigma. Each manifests in a way that is unique to the individual. When paired, they form a destructive, self-perpetuating combination that both intensifies pathology and increases resistance to treatment. Yet more is being learned about the brain every day, and with that knowledge comes a

better understanding of the conditions that affect it. The continued development of new pharmacological agents and emerging research in the field of mental health are expanding the treatment options for those with anxiety and other related disorders, providing stronger results and a better hope for a healthy future.
