Mode of Transportation
We are learning to:
1. Identify the different modes of transportation
2. Write a story using simple past tense
We will be successful if:
1. We can use the different types of transportation in our writing

a. At least 15 - 20 verbs used in past tense in our writing (High achiever)

The Implementation / Lesson Content


Introduce the theme and the topic
Brainstorm the different types of transportation
Pre-teach vocabulary related to the topic (show pictures - children
named the transportation - spell the words)
Group work - Classify the different modes of transportation (Land,
water and air)
use cut out pictures of transportation (posters/booklet/etc)
name the transportation (to check spelling)
Recap what the children learned yesterday
Tell the children they will revised the action words (verbs)
Demonstrate movement to children to guess the verbs. (You can
use the children as a model)
Show pictures of verbs and transportation. Examples,
He walks to the bus stop.
She sits on the bus
They ride their bicycles to school.
Revised children's knowledge on Simple Past Tense. Change the
above verb to Simple Past Tense. (Practice with children)
He walked to the bus stop.
She sat on the bus.
They rode their bicycle to school.
Writing task 1: Change the verbs into Simple past tense.

transportation and Simple Past Tense
Show a set of pictures to the children. Tell them the story is about
Alif.
Ask the children to named all the mode of transportation they can
see in the pictures.
Named the verbs they can see in the pictures (Ask questions:
"What did Alif do?)
Brainstorm with the children about the pictures.
Try to emphasize the use of Simple Past Tense.
Writing Task 2: Drafting their story.
Teacher will show the children the checklist they can use to check
their writing.
Explain how to use it.
Writing Task 3: Write the story of Alif
After the children finished their writing ask the children to use the
checklist.
