Flossy Doll

You will need 3.25mm hook eco-baby yarn 1 x skin colour, 1 x dress, hat, shoe colour, 1 x frill and sleeves colour (optional) 1 x length of black yarn for eyes. Stuffing material. English crochet terms are used throughout this pattern. Head You will work from top to bottom in skin colour Round1. Make magic ring and 6dc in ring (6) Do not slip stitch into the first stitch, work in the round, counting and/or using a stitch marker.

Round2. 2dc in each st around (12) Round3. *dc in next st, 2dc in next st* and repeat from * around (18)

Round 15 chain 3 2tc round (168) slip stitch into 3rd chain from the beginning of this round.

Finish off leaving long thread to attach the hat to the head.

Legs (make two) In shoe colour Round1. 6 dc in magic ring (6) Round2. 2 dc in each st around (12) Decreasing round Round3. dc next 3 stitches (miss next stitch dc next) x 3 dc, next 3stitches (9) Change to skin colour (see picture)

Round4.dc around (9). Once the first row is complete I tie the ends of the two joined colours and tuck all spare ends into the base of the shoe. This keeps them out of the way. Make sure you turn the show the right way round with the starting yarn in the middle.

Rounds5 13. dc round (9) Finish off.

Stuff legs

Body starting with bottom, I use the colour I want the body of the dress to be. Round1. With back of one leg and colour desired for pants pick up and dc 3 sts across back of right leg, continue across 4 sts of back of left leg, continue around left leg and across front of right leg (18st). Tie the ends of the joined threads and then thread the pants colour onto a needle, take the thread in between the legs and overstitch a couple of times to secure the area between the legs.

Round2 4. dc around (18) Round5. two dc in each stitch (36)

Round6. dc round (36) Round7. (decrease round) dc every other stitch (18)

Rounds8 12 dc round (18) Round 13. (decrease round) (dc one, miss one) around (12) Round 14. dc around (12) Stuff body.

Round 15. (decrease round) (miss one, dc one) around (6) Round 16. dc around (6) Stuff neck firmly. Finish off leaving long length of yarn for sewing body to head later.

Skirt In contrast to body colour if desired. With neck of body facing you, start in the middle of the back in the increased rounds of the body.

Round1. pull yarn through as shown in the photo. Chain one, pick up and dc 4 stitches, move up a row to stay on the increased rounds of the body, continue to pick up and dc remaining 32 st, slip stitch to first skirt st.(36)

Round2. chain 3 2 treble crochet in each stitch (72)

Round3. chain 3 tc round slip stitch into 3rd chain of initial chain (72)

Round4. chain 1 dc round slip stitch into initial chain (71)

Finish off.

Arms (make two) Start with skin colour Round1. 6 dc into magic ring (6)

Rounds2-7. 6 dc around (6) Change yarn to dress/skirt colour (as desired).

Rounds8-10. 6dc (6) I do not stuff the arms as this makes them a little more moveable for play. I do push the ends of the yarn into it. Finish off leaving long yarn for attaching to body. Putting Flossy Together Fastening the Arms to the Body Pin the first arm in place (see photo), make sure you have the dolls feet facing towards you (the right way round)

Over stitch up and down the top of the arm to ensure it is secure, fasten off. Repeat with second arm. Face Count down nine rows from the top of the head and place pins approximately 5cm apart (whatever suits you).

Fasten black thread to the top of the head and thread needle through the head to the position of the first pin.

Remove pin and and thread through two stitches bringing the needle out to the stitch below, return the needle into the start of this eye and take it across to the next pin to repeat the sequence for the next eye.

Fasten off by returning the needle to the top of the head and fastening off.

Fastening the Hat to the head Thread the end yarn of the hat back up the frill as shown in the photo.

Start with the thread in the middle of the back of head. Make sure you angle the hat to be lower at the back of the neck and to clear the eyes at the front.

Stich around fasten off. Fastening the head to the body Using the yarn that you finished with on the body, stitch around the top of the neck several times to help stiffen it.

Place neck into the hole where you finished the head (making sure it is the right way round, shoes pointing forwards in the same direction as the eyes).

Stitch around ( I usually do this twice to ensure it is well secured).
