HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 52-54; Romans 10 Monday, July 29 Prov. 3:33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. Dear Lord and Giver of Life: I want to fear you today and no other, because then I come under your divine protection as surely as the roof covers my family and me. Make my home a house of love, a school of holy training, and a cinema of heavenly light. Make this prayer time my familiar altar where the name of God is revered. Therefore Lord, bless my habitation, just like youve said. It is certainly a humble habitation and not a lordly mansion, but blessing comes because of the character of the inhabitants, not because of the size of the house. That home is most blessed that has the householders fearing God. It is not a Christian home because it has Christians in it; it is a Christian home because it is ruled by Christ. Lord, I pray for __________ and __________, that they might be saved and bring blessing to their house! Justified persons have rights to your grace. Holy Spirit, help them claim your grace even today. In myself, I am no just person. So in order to make my house the habitation of the just, help me make Jesus the continual guest. Thenjust like Mary and Martha, the sisters in Bethanywe will be most blessed. And while you are there in my house with me Lord, v Teach me to be just in my trade, because that is a testimony v Teach me to be just in my judgment of others, for that is discernment v Teach me to be just in my treatment of my neighbors and coworkers v Teach me to be just toward my spouse and my children, as an example v Teach me to be just in my personal character, as my personal witness In Jesus name I am claiming this today! Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 61-63; Romans 13 Thursday, August 1 Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 55-57; Romans 11 Tuesday, July 30 Matt. 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; Holy Lord and Master: It seems only natural the earth should quake, graves should split open, and the veil in the temple should be torn in two starting at the top. After all, he who only hath immortality, the incarnate God and creator voluntarily gave up the ghost and died. The more I think of what it took for the Son of God to actually die, the more I am amazed at the mystery of it! Even veiled in mortal flesh, how could he condescend to a mortals death, so as to bow his head on the cross, and submit to be slain and laid in a tomb? Yet strange to say, the very instant when the holy person of Jesus was torn out of his physical body, the great curtain that concealed the holy of holies was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. What could it mean? First, this tearing in two has to be regarded as a solemn act of mourning by the house of the Lord. Men expressed their sorrow in those days by tearing their garments. The temple, when it beheld you die Master, seemed struck by horror like a smart bomb hit it. Shocked at the sin of man, indignant at the death of its Lord, in sympathy it tore its cloak. Next, the tearing has to be taken to mean the whole system of Old Testament types and shadows and ceremonies came to an end. This is why we do not worship by sacraments and need a priest in vestments! The ordinances of a temple priesthood were torn along with that veil. In token of the death of the ceremonial law, the soul of the sacrificial system left its sacred shrine and exited the physical temple as a dead thing. The dispensation of the law was over. Good news! I am now free to worship you in spirit and in truth. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 64-66; Romans 14 Friday, August 2 2 Cor. 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. Gracious God and Father: We have a desire for this summer, and during our All-Church Retreat, to magnify Christ as Gods unspeakable gift. This goes against our postmodern times, because discipleship turns probabilities into certainties, and discards the mere opinion of truth stories, for truth itself. We make the Lord more than a mythological good man; he is allthe unspeakable gift of God! Help us praise you this summer, and at the conference, because we can never possibly thank you as we ought. If Jesus is truly our Savior, then we should thank God for him! If Jesus is our life, then we should thank him for waking us up in the morning and sending us on our way in a missional fashion to minister. Psa. 113:3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORDS name is to be praised. Oh to get into that state where we are singing in your presence, studying your word through preaching, and going out afterward into the world to make a difference! This is the way we lift up our king. He is worth it, and worthy of such devotion. Let me today vow that, the Holy Spirit helping me, I will use the rest of this year as an opportunity to thank God for his unspeakable gift of grace in Jesus Christ. That I will do holy work this week and this month and this fall. Help us, all you who know salvation! Help us, all you who have participated with us in discipleship! Help us, angels! Help us musicians and praise leaders! Help us, pastors and preachers! It is still unspeakable unto the end, but help us anyway! Dear God, write this line of gratitude on our hearts during this Retreat, for we ask it in Jesus precious name. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 58-60; Romans 12 Wednesday, July 31 1 Thes. 4:7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. Gracious God and Redeemer: I know there is no way to heaven but by holiness. The holiness of Christ has to be given to me to make me worthy. Then the holiness of the Holy Spirit has to be shown through me after it is planted in me to make me ready. Help me insist on revival in these postmodern (really, post-moral), Generation Y, millennial, net-generation last days. Lax thinking and dubious doctrine have resulted in loose morals and pop theology, but no revival! Give me a holy faith in a holy Savior found in holy scriptures, from whom I look for holy blessings. Jesus Christ did not save me in my sins; he does save me from my sins. Cast-out the corruptions of my flesh. Purify me to yourself, a holy person zealous of good works. I have no faith without works, for that is dead faith. It is an avatar spirituality, with the looks of a human yet without the full function. I trust in grace alone, but grace that does not lead to revival is not grace at all. I pant and aspire to be holy. I will not immediately attain it, but I groan for it! I do not always have it, but I ever desire it. When I have lost it I grieve over it. I pray and confess my sins so I can have fellowship restored and continue on the route of perfecting holiness. I long to be made more like Christ. Oh, Jesus. Those who seek after holiness are able to make the wilderness and the solitary place to be glad. A miracle of grace enables me to rejoice when traveling through trials, and be satisfied with the presence of Jesus when I have no other friend. Though often fearful of heart, I am bold to keep to this sacred way. I need not turn from the path to find an easier route or a more popular passage. Matt. 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Give me revival for Jesus sake and in honor of his word. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 67-69; Romans 15 Saturday, August 3 Psa. 111:4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion. Gracious God and Holy Savior: Your works are worthy of my research. They yield a wonderful blend of instruction and pleasure that is worth the investigation. Your hidden wisdom is the best part of your working, so those who dont look below the surface miss most of what you long to teach. Because your works are so great I cannot understand them all at once, but can only comprehend them after careful examination. It is good that my King James Bible cannot be understood at a glance, because the search into your words mysteries is as useful as the knowledge I get from it. Psa. 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. To know you so as to walk rightly before you is the greatest of all applied sciences. Fear of you (holy reverence with hatred of sin) leads me to praise you, and this is a wise act for any creature toward his Creator. I may think I am wise, but only obedience proves sound judgment. If I do not obey you I am not smart, no matter what IQ or education I might have. Only fools justify their rebellion. Practical godliness is the best test of wisdom. Some people are very orthodox and eloquent, others very spiritual and emotional. But the best proof of real intelligence is found in actually doing your will. My praises will never stop, because your works will always move me to adoration. Lord, help me study your works, and breathe-out hallelujahs as long as I am alive. Amen.

WHAT a wonderful change in my life has been wrought

Since Jesus came into my heart; I have light in my soul for which long I have sought, Since Jesus came into my heart. I have ceased from my wandring and going astray, Since Jesus came into my heart; And my sins which were many are all washed away, Since Jesus came into my heart. Im possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure, Since Jesus came into my heart; And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure, Since Jesus came into my heart. Since Jesus came into my heart, since Jesus came into my heart; Floods of joy oer my soul like the sea billows roll, Since Jesus came into my heart. Rufus H. McDaniel, 1914

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
