KISHTWAR: Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori flag off the education tour of school children on Friday from outside Deputy Commissioner Office Kishtwar. In all 34 students from different High/Higher Secondary Schools of Kishtwar are the parts of this seven days tour named as Bharat Darshan organised by Education Department Kishtwar funded by HRD Ministry Government of India. UDHAMPUR : A pilgrim was allegedly raped by a local youth at Sioj Dhar when she went to answer the call of nature during wee hours on Friday. The lady raised alarm and other pilgrims camping there reached the spot and caught the accused red-handed. The accused has been identified as Usman Omar son of Qarim Din resident of Badole Latti. It was reported that when a pilgrim who went for toilet noticed some suspicious shouts for help and informed the other pilgrims camping there. They caught the accused while committing crime and handed him over to the police deputed for the security of pilgrims. Incident of rape has exposed the tall claims

being made by the police of ensuring fool proof security arrangements of Kailesh-Kund Yatra. Local people demanded action against police also for dereliction of duty. According to sources the pilgrim is identified as 24 years Kamlesh (name changed) wife of Bishan Dass resident of village Pachyot-1 Dudu. She had gone for KailashKund Yatra. As per scheduled programme Yatra stopped at Sioj Dhar for the night in tented accommodation. It was informed that in nearby tents a Gujjar family is also staying at Siyoj Dhar hamlet. SAMBA : A Jawan of Border Security Force (BSF) died on Friday under mysterious circumstances. His body was shifted to District Hospital Samba and was later handed over to BSF after autopsy. According to report the Jawan of 58 Battalion BSF identified as Bagat Ram resident of Chhatisgarh while in performance of his duty, suddenly became unconscious and was shifted to District Hospital Samba where the doctors declared him as brought dead. After conducting postmortem, his body was handed over to his unit for further dispatch to his native place.

VIJAYPUR : Five members of a family were injured when an LPG cylinder exploded in the kitchen in village Phalain near Arnia in district Samba on Friday. Sources said that the gas cylinder which caught fire in the kitchen, exploded when the family members were trying to extinguish the fire. The injured have been identified as Mohammad Saleem, Mohammad Rafiq, Amar Ishu, Amar Mossa and their father Khair Din. They all were immediately shifted to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu. Mohammad Saleem who was 95 per cent burnt, was later evacuated to Ludhiana.

Woman bootlegger arrested

POUNI: The Police arrested a woman involved in distillation of illicit liquor on Friday in village Kheralehar of Block Pouni. According to reports the SHO Pouni Inderpal Singh under the supervision of SSP Thakur Ragubir Singh conducted a raid on Friday in village Kheralehar and arrested a women identified as Anu wife of Harpal Singh involved in distillation of illicit liquor. The Police team recovered a working still with five kg Lahan and two litres of illicit liquor from the possession of Anu during this raid. The accused woman was booked under FIR 58/12 under section 48 (a)(b)(d)(e) Excise Act. SSP Reasi coming heavily on the illicit distillation, sale and consumption of illicit liquor in the district, has issued strict instructions to all the police officers go all out in eradicating the menace which is the main cause of generating crime.

UDHAMPUR: A youth attempted to commit suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in his house. Family members of the victim on seeing him unconscious shifted him to nearby PHC. According to source a youth identified as Vikas son of Hem Raj resident of village Kaw in Udhampur took some poisonous substance in his house to end his life. Finding him in unconscious condition he was shifted to nearby PHC where Doctors gave him first aid further referred to District Hospital Udhampur. Police has registered a case and launched the investigation.

Hideout busted, cache recovered

KISHTWAR: Based on specific intelligence inputs from unit sources, a joint column of 17 Rashtriya Rifles and JK Police launched a Search Operation in the Tandar Area of Kishtwar District, on Friday. A large quantity of warlike stores were recovered, from the busted hideout which include one rifle (12 Bore), one muzzle loader rifle, one magazine of AK Series weapons, 61 rounds of AK-47 Series Ammunition, one magazine of 9 mm pistol, two rounds of 12 bore ammunition, one RPG round, three Chinese grenades, two grenades of Austrian make, one grenade of UBGL and one matrix sheet of Hizbul Muzahideen.

BISHNAH: Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS) and Hospital held a medical camp at its Rural Health Centre at Bishnah. The camp was inaugurated by MLA, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, who lauded the efforts of the organisation in arranging health activities in rural areas. Earlier, the organisation had celebrated breastfeeding week and arranged cancer detection camp. In the multi specialty camp, specialists from various

departments Prof. Anil K Gupta of Dept of Medicines, Dr(s) Javed Bhatti of Orthopaedics, Happy Kour of Ophthalmology and Shallu Jamwal of Gynae and Obst examined the patients of their specialties. The Director Principal, Prof Kumar along with Prof V.K Gandotra, advisor academics visited the camp and examined surgical patients. Head Dept of Community Medicine, Prof R.N Dubey narrated the activities of his department through the Rural Health

Centre in Bishnah block. He informed that the consultants from various specialties will be regularly visiting the Health Centre according to a fixed schedule and examine patients. The centre will also provide outreach facilities and referral service. 116 patients attended the camp and were advised follow up care at RHC. It was further informed that shortly a physiotherapy camp is being held for senior citizens, in collaboration with an NGO working for the aged.
