About Specializations
1. In

this program there are two options available with the students: a. Either student can opt for M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering b. Or he/she can opt for M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (with specialization).

2. If the student wants to get M.Tech in Mechanical engineering (with specialization), then areas in which he/she can do specialization are as follows: a. Thermal Engineering b. Mechanical Engineering Design c. Industrial and Production Engineering d. Automobile Engineering 3. If the student is willing to do M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (without specialization), then he/she is free to take all the three electives (Elective - 1, 2, 3) in third semester from any of the stream and the student will be free to do Major Project in any of the stream pertaining to mechanical engineering. 4. If the student is willing to do M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (with specialization), then he/she will have to take all the three electives (Elective - 1, 2, 3) in third semester from any one of the stream mentioned above in which he/she is willing to pursue specialization. The student who opts for the option of specialization will have to do Major Project in the same stream in which he/she is willing to do specialization. (E.g. If the student is willing to do M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Mechanical Engineering Design, then the student will have to take Elective 1 - from any one of the offered course mentioned in the column of Elective 1-for specialization in Mechanical Engineering design, similarly Elective 2, Elective 3 will be also from offered course mentioned in the column of Elective 2 & Elective 3 -for specialization in Mechanical Engineering Design) 5. If the student is willing to do M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (with specialization) then he/she will be issued a separate certificate of specialization on completion of the program along with the degree of M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
