Std 9 EXAM PRIMER 1 80 marks Chapter 1: Rational and Irrational Numbers Rational, Irrational numbers as real numbers, their place in the number system, inserting numbers between real numbers, Irrational numbers as non-repeating, non-terminating decimals, Simplifying an expression by rationalizing the denominator Chapter 2: Profit, Loss and Discount The meaning of marked price, selling price and discount, thus giving an idea of profit and loss on day to day dealings. Simple problems related to Profit and loss and discount, successive discounts or discounts in series, including inverse working. Chapter 4: Expansion Expansion of ! , Chapter 5: Factorisation. Factorisation by taking out the common factor, Factorisation by grouping, Difference of two squares, Sum or difference of cubes, Factorisation of trinomial Chapter 6: Framing Of Formula Comprehending word problems and framing the required formulae, Changing the subject in a given formula in terms of the other variables; simplifying the equation or expression, finding its value by substituting the given value(s) of the other variable or variables. Chapter 10: Triangles Triangles, relation between sides and angles of triangles, Types of triangles, congruent triangles, angles opposite to equal sides are equal and converse. Construction of triangles when two sides and the altitude of third side are given, a triangle whose base and vertical angle are given, a righttriangle with hypotenuse and one side are given, a triangle whose perimeter and base angles are given, a triangle in which base, one angle and sum/difference of other sides are given.
