There is a certain nobility attached with the teaching profession that engenders from the importance of education in raising standards of living. Not only does good education augment one's employment prospects, it also helps mould well-rounded, thoughtful characters, a point that is often neglected. In spite of this, teachers remain undervalued commodities. Work hours are long, there is little money in the profession and worst of all, recalcitrant youths are often in abundant supply. Yet education is only beneficial when it is of a high quality, when classes are taught by committed, knowledgeable individuals. These teachers would probably offer their services readily, having been motivated by a passion. Conversely, attempts to recruit teachers by offering other sorts of appeals could attract individuals of different motivations
