APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO POSTGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014 LATE APPLICANTS
Applications are still invited for admission into Postgraduate degree programmes for the academic year 2013/14 which starts in October 2013. The programmes which invite late applicants are described below:

Holders of Advanced Diploma in the relevant areas from a recognized higher learning institution with a minimum of upper second class plus a postgraduate diploma.

Holders of a First Class Postgraduate Diploma in Education from any recognized higher learning institution.
School of Humanities:
The School of Humanities will offer six MA degree programmes in the 2013/14 academic year. However, space for admission remains in only one degree programme as described below: MA in Theatre and Film for Development by Thesis The MA in Theatre and Film for Development by thesis has been designed specifically for students who desire to have strong practical grip on research or as practising producers in theatre and film. The programme is a 24 months degree offered under a full time basis. Admission Criteria All applicants for the programme must satisfy the general entry requirements into the Master of Arts degree programmes of the University of Dodoma. They must possess a good First Degree with a GPA of 3.0 and above. The First Degree must have a theatre component and/or film, where the applicants must satisfy the Departments requirements that they are competent in theatre and/or film. Students undertaking MA by thesis and doing projects must demonstrate practical competence through provided CVs.
programme will impart up-to-date and in-depth knowledge in the highly-dynamic telecommunications technologies and enhance research capabilities to tackle challenges facing telecommunication industry in developing countries. Like the MSc CS, the MSc TE degree programme is offered using three modes which are Full-time, Evening and Executive. Applicants should specify in the application forms, the mode they prefer according to their preferences. The admission criteria: 1. Holders of a First or Second Class honours degree in electronics engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer engineering, computer science, information technology of UDOM or a qualification from an approved Institution of Higher Learning, deemed to be equivalent to an honours degree of UDOM. 2. Candidates with pass degrees in the above disciplines will be considered for admission provided that they have an experience of at least 5 years and have undergone a training of at least 6 months after graduation. 3. Holders of a First Class postgraduate diploma of UDOM in relevant disciplines or a qualification from an approved Institution of Higher Learning deemed to be equivalent to that of UDOM. 4. Applicants intending to undertake Executive MSc. TE must fulfil any of the above criteria including having work experience of at least two years.
Master of Science in Mathematics This programme is intended to create mathematicians who can serve the nation in various organizations like National Bureau of Statistics, Audit Departments, Research Institutions and other areas where mathematicians are needed. The study programme is conducted in two years (4 semesters) of which three semesters are for course-work and the last semester is for writing a dissertation. The admission criteria: 1. Admission to the MSc Mathematics degree programme shall be made on merit in the PET (Post-graduate Entrance Test). 2. The minimum eligibility conditions for admission to Master's Degree programme in mathematics shall be B.Sc (Honours)/B.Sc under 10+2+3 pattern, securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in Science subjects (considering all the three years of B.Sc. programme). To get admission in M.Sc (Mathematics), the mathematics subject at B.Sc (Honours) level must be studied in all the three years at graduate level.
Degree Programmes under the College of Health Sciences: School of Nursing and Public Health
The School will offer one MSc degree programme during the 2013/14 academic year as shown below: Master of Science in Nursing Mental Health (MSc Nursing - Mental Health) The MSc Nursing - Mental Health degree programme is designed with an objective of producing competent mental health nurses working in general and specialized mental health facilities, teaching institutions, community organizations as well as various levels of policy development and implementation. Degree Programmes under the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences: School of Biological Sciences
The School of Biological Sciences offers one graduate degree programme that has few admission slots available as presented below. Master of Science in Biodiversity Conservation (MSc BC) This degree programme emphasizes on the Biodiversity concepts and background to the principles that underlie its conservation in both protected and unprotected areas. The programme is offered on full-time basis for 18 months of which 12 months are for course-work and 6 months are for preparing and writing a dissertation. The admission criteria: 1. Holders of a First or Second Class honours degree in Biological Sciences from any recognized University or Institution of Higher Learning deemed to be equivalent to an honors degree of UDOM. 2. Candidates with pass degrees in the above disciplines will be considered for admission provided that they have an experience of at least 5 years and have undergone a training of at least 6 months after graduation. 3. Holders of First Class postgraduate diploma in relevant areas from an approved Institution of Higher Learning deemed to be equivalent to that of UDOM.
Specialists from the MMed programme are capable of managing patients at all levels of health provision centres from District hospitals to Referral hospitals. According to Ministry of Health and Social welfare (MoHSW) guidelines, each District, and Regional referral hospitals should have at least one, and two general surgeons respectively, a dream which is yet to be realized. UDOM provides an opportunity to train these specialists who will serve in different hospitals. The Master of Medicine is a three years programme which is organized into six semesters. Each academic year is made of 44 teaching weeks organized into two 22 weeks semesters inclusive of two examination weeks. There is one month long vacation towards the end of each year. The admission criteria: Applicants into the Master of Medicine programme in General Surgery must be holders of a first degree in Medicine, or Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Dodoma or any other recognized University. Applicants must have a B grade in Surgery at undergraduate level. Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine Master of Medicine programme in Internal Medicine aims at transforming general medical practitioners usually holders of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) into medical specialists who are competent in management of common Medical conditions. Like, the Master of Medicine programme in General Surgery, this degree programme is a three years programme organized into six semesters. Each academic year comprises of 44 teaching weeks organized into two 22 weeks semesters inclusive of two examination weeks. The admission criteria: The degree programme is open to any holder of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and/or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degrees from any accredited university, with a B grade in Medicine at the undergraduate level. Such individuals should also comply with other regulations as may be defined. Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Masters of Medicine programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology aims at transforming general medical practitioners usually holders of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) into medical specialists who are competent in management of common Obstetrics and Gynaecological conditions. This is a three years programme organized into six semesters. Each academic year has 44 teaching weeks organized into two 22 weeks semesters inclusive of two examination weeks. The admission criteria: Holders of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and/or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degrees from any accredited university, with a B grade in Obstetrics/Gynaecology at the undergraduate level and who complies with other regulations as may be defined. Such applicants must have at least one year experience of working at any hospital. Master of Medicine in Microbiology and Immunology The study of Microbiology and Immunology in relation to infectious diseases has contributed significantly to the
establishment of a strong foundation of the modern scientific medicine. The course in Medical Microbiology and Immunology includes Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology, Immunology and Cell and Molecular Biology with major emphasis on their role in the management, control and prevention of human diseases. The Masters programme in Microbiology and immunology is taught in very few Universities in East Africa, and Tanzania in particular. This has lead to shortage of microbiologists not only in teaching universities, but also in hospitals and research centres. The Master of Medicine programme in Microbiology and Immunology at UDOM is a three years programme, which is organized into six semesters. Each academic year is made of 44 teaching weeks with two 22 weeks semesters (inclusive of two examination weeks). During the first semester, students learn about Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Research Methodology, Cell and Molecular Biology, General Principles of Pathology, Bioethics and Parasitology/Medical Entomology. The admission criteria: Holders of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and/or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degrees from any accredited university, with a B grade in Microbiology and Immunology at the undergraduate level and who complies with other regulations as may be defined. PhD Programme The PhD degree programme is offered in various areas such as public administration, development studies, political science, environmental studies and sociology. Other areas are History, Languages, education disciplines, computer science, telecommunication engineering, etc. The admission criteria: 1) Applicant must hold a bachelors degree of at least B grade or its equivalent in the area intended for study. 2) Applicant should possess Masters degree in the area intended to register for studies. 3) Applicant should submit a concept paper outlining what to be researched in the intended discipline. Admission Procedure a) Indicating intention to register for PhD through a letter or otherwise including submitting a concept paper; b) Submitting the application forms, three positive references, CV, academic documents and paying the application fee of Tshs 40,000, and; c) Getting admission letter from the Directorate of Graduate Studies after approval of the Senate. Application Deadlines The closing date for submission of completed application forms for postgraduate and masters programmes is Friday 6th September 2013. Application for PhD can be made at anytime of the year. Fees Tuition fee for the academic year 2013/14 is: 1. T.shs. 1,500,000 for all Full-Time Based Masters degree programmes offered under the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (Annually). 2. T.shs. 2,700,000 for all Evening-Based Masters degree programmes offered under the College of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as that offered by the College of Education (Annually).

Tshs. 2,200,000 for all Full-Time Based MSc degree programmes offered under the College of Informatics and Virtual Education (Annually). 5. T.shs. 4,800,000 for the Executive-mode MSc degree programmes offered under the College of Informatics and Virtual Education (Annually). 6. Tshs. 2,800,000 for Full-Time Based MSc degree programmes offered under the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (Annually). 7. T.shs. 1,500,000 for all Full-Time Based MSc degree programmes offered under the School of Nursing (Annually). 8. T.shs. 4,500,000 for all Full-Time Based MSc degree programmes offered under the School of Medicine and Dentistry (Annually). 9. T.shs. 1,000,000 for Full-Time PGDE and Tshs. 1,800,000 for Evening PGDE offered under the College of Education (Annually). 10. T.shs. 500,000 for PhD Programme (annually).
