ART IN THE GARDEN Greenway Conservancy Children of all ages use reclaimed materials to create works of art inspired by the Dewey Demonstration Gardens. AURIGA PROJECT Lux Faros Studios Cygnus X1 was design for the punch drunk style interactive theater piece called The Auriga Project. The Auriga Project is a Sci Fi Thriller or mystery and murder. The setting takes place during the revealing of Avalon Corporation and, new world government, State of the Coalitions weapons department Sea-forge Tech, revealing their newest model of synthetic life that can survive and for fill almost any situation. BOSTON PATCHWORK Roxanne C. Michaud A decorative quilt to be made for and by the communities of FIGMENT and Boston in just two days, to celebrate art, creativity, and the combined communities as a whole. BRING A PHEROMONE Jumper Did you know that the reason that we still have armpit hair is to facilitate the spread of pheromones? Did you know that armpits are as varied and interesting as a fine wine? Come and sample a few, or offer your own up for others in our anonymous armpit smelling booth! C.U.T.E. Meet your fellow FIGMENT participants! Our project provides a space to acquaint yourself with ten to twenty strangers employing speed dating techniques - human scale puzzles and simple questions aimed at revealing personality. The outcome will be an hourly batch of newly acquainted C.U.T.E. graduates who will receive a patch with the hour of their session. CEMI-AUTOMATIK CEMI Electronic Media Institute Interactive live music and sampling for folks to make their own music on the fly. We've got buttons to press, and when it gets dark, we'll break out the lights, projector, and lasers and allow folks to create anima tions we'll project live. CHALKY GOODNESS Urban Canvas Pavement is boring... let's brighten our public spaces with chalk! Shadow art, "chalk-tionary," interactive story art, picture games, free-form art, and everything else under the calcite sun will be yours for the drawing! Its convenient and fun to use with unique interactions that users can relate with natural human actions. AUTOMATIC SUBCONSCIOUS 30' diameter by 20' diagrid dome/performance space for aerials, music and shade. DIGITAP Jacob LaRocca A pair of digital tap dancing shoes that trigger MIDI events wirelessly. DUCT TAPE SERENITY Jacob LaRocca (Jacobmakesstuff) I have built a model of Serenity from 100% duct tape. It weighs 23 pounds, has moving parts, and is accurate to the model used in the TV show Firefly. I will also be teaching how to make roses, spinning tops, and other small trinkets out of duct tape. FIGMENT FINGERPRINTS Colin & The Fingerniers Fingerprints is the continuation of Fingerprint, a Figment 2012 project. Every Figment event is a unique entity defined by the random attendance of individuals. Fingerprints gives this event an unique identifier, a fingerprint, by capturing the fingers of participants adventurous enough to place their finger in purple goo and have it replicated. Give thanks. Experience life's fullness. HEDGECONE Viktor Genel HedgeCone is a three dimensional construction utilizing traffic cones (or agility cones) as its building blocks. Looking like a large porcupine it is in fact built using very strict mathematical principles. ITS NOT FOOD Kimberly Bellinger An artistic rebellion in toxic consumption, an installation designed to provoke participants to ponder what is food, and what is simply just edible. We will be constructing a tree out of untreated, uncoated McDonalds french fries. KISSING BOOTH Josh Silverman Find a partner. Any partner. Step right up to the "Kissing Booth" and discover the hot make-out soundtrack you never knew your life was missing. LEND ME A SOUND Elaine Lunsford Come lend your sound into my microphone! I will collect original vocal samples from willing participants and assign each sample a key on my keyboard. When I have enough samples, I will create live music, using your voices! LOOKING THROUGH S.T. Gately I am a 2D Visual Artist who utilizes permanent marker on acetate. I would like to display my artwork as well as give the public a chance to make art like the artist. I will provide the public with the acetate and markers and they can get the opportunity to create their own designs. MASH UP Donna Cleary We will create a sculpture that showcases and utilizes plastic waste. The idea is to create a large tree-like structure of wood from which will pour a waterfall of plastic containers that have been collected from the New York City, Connecticut and Boston area. Over the course of the festival, we will ask visitors to add their plastic bottles to the structure. By the end of the weekend, we hope to have amassed a large, flowing "water fall" that undulates out onto the grass.

INTERACTIVE ART
MATTER OF SCENT Marianne van Ooij This installation intends to convey the power of our individual imaginations in combination with the almost involuntary immediacy of scent. Once imprinted, these sense memories can summon strong visual associations. Create your personal canvas: Smell a scent in one of the tubes. Look at the canvas and experience what you see. MEDIATATION Mars Jupiter, Liz Anaya, Paul Marlier, Alex Miller, Sidestep Complex, The 7th House, The plan-its Mediatation is an invitation for the public to examine their relationship with modern media by playing with media objects from the past. Several planned performances will happen throughout the day splicing audience voices with tapes, mixing with records and words from classic texts that festival attendees will be asked to memorize throughout the day. MODULAR GRAFFITI New American Public Art Modular Graffiti is an interactive performance art piece. We (New American Public Art) bring a wall with interchangeable wooden blocks that we (N.A.P.A. artists) then spray paint, while we are painting we encourage the public to join in the process. MOTH VEGAS Bennett Jenisch, Devon Fisher This project is an interactive audio/visual installation that explores the relationship between humans and the environment they directly inhabit. It is being created using Max/MSP/Jitter and a number of micro controller's (Arduino at the moment) with various sensors. OSTRICH IOANA Like ostriches, our tendency to bury our heads and hide within the confines of our imagination - even while outside and in plain view - is ever growing in our digital age. PAPER CROSSPLAY Sheeba Recall the paper dolls of yore, dress up a life sized paper doll, step behind time to become the doll, strike a pose and the moment memorialized for all. REAL TIME ART SHOW An experiment in social photography. Our goal is to create a printed gallery of Figment that is created in actual time, and is altered over the course of the event. STRING THEORY Michele Auer String theory is a 28' round array of colored strings suspended from above and increasing in density and length toward the center. At the edge, the strings are high, just out of reach. Looking up, however, one will still see sky. SUPER SPRITES Carl Gruesz & Kate Hooppell Super Sprites is an interactive set of water jets that move, change, and light up after dark. They can be arranged in many different ways, each a self-contained unit sending water to another fountain. Their overall behavior is shaped by the activity of people near the fountains. SUSTAINABILITREE Aliza Vaida and Nantz Comyns The project is a whimsical world of plants and animals that will show case how old thrown away objects and materials can be re-purposed into something new and beautiful. THE CUMAN ROAD Franklin Marval Walk through a personal memory. The S will represent the curves of the road that my family and I used to drive. Both sides completely different from one another. The hallway will be a seven second walk that represents two hours of driving a car on a curvy road in Venezuela only being able to see lines flying by. THE MEANWHILE PROJECT BOSTON Alvaro Galvan Create a live comic book strip and become one of the main characters of the story. Then share your experience with the world! THE PHONE CAR Howard Davis An artcar designed and built to look like a red desk phone. The car is licensed and drivable. When the horn button is pressed, the car rings. THICKETS O'CONDUITS BIG6BEARCAT An urban renewal scavenger hunt. It repurposes old and discarded eletrical fixtures such as switch/plug plates, wiring, fire alarms, thermostats, et cetera to create an unusual experience of ordinary objects. The viewer will locate these odd marriages between discarded technology and an urban park setting. TOUCH Emily Schleiner, Nicholas Weigand Touch is an installation that facilitates merging of people into one massive being. Using a motion sensing device (Kinect) to detect when people are touching, Touch will render images of them resembling irregularly shaped amoebas. WEB: STORY OF A DAY Inkylizard A weaving, an inclusion illusory allusion spin within the singing things amidst mixed histories we'll find them again. this, i think: in synaesthetic synthesis we could connect, we could salvage what we miss. WRAP MK + H Using light posts and trees as nodes, participants stretch the fabric between and around landscape elements to create a dynamic environment. The goal of WRAP is to encourage people to actively manipulate and engage with the existing landscape and in turn develop an understanding of the relationship between urban space, scale, and experience.

Immediately after hearing the story True Story actors will embody it and check back with the teller about whether we captured its essence. MUSIC
ANALOG FIRE A production and DJ collective breaching the lines between minimal-house and electro. DJ WUBSON This lovable monster has a big, playful sound and a connection with crowds like no other DJ/Producer in New England. With a musical flow that includes Bass Music at all tempos. PASSAGER Seyhan Musa / Cils d'Argent "Passager" (Passenger in French) is an interactive piece with live scored audio, structured around the tradition of Fluxus. Through the use of instructional scores and your audience engagement as well as spoken poetry and live generated audio, a composition piece is enacted. REQUESTS DJ Silence Specific songs are always hard to work into a DJ set. Some requests will even be as a vague as "something with a beat" or "anything that doesn't suck" or worse. Requests will be submitted by mood rather than by song.

PERFORMANCE/DANCE
AL-JAWARY AL-HESSAN DANCE TROUPE A full Egyptian-style raqs sharki (belly dance) show. They will use such authentic props as finger cymbals, veils, canes and swords and perform to beautiful middle eastern music. After their performance, they will invite the entire audience to dance with them, and show them some of the basic moves. JOHARA & SNAKE DANCE THEATER AND GUESTS Johara and her dance company will bring their joy and love for the ancient art form known as Middle Eastern Bellydance to the open space at Figment. They will perform pieces from their latest production "Venus and Mars: Tales of Love and War" then get the audience to join in the dance. We'll teach a folk line dance, serpentine movements, hip-locks, belly-rolls, and shimmies. CREATION IS MAGIC Kaioni Kaioni is a producer, singer, writer, & dancer of what he calls Eco-Lectro - electronic music with an awareness angle. With this project, Kaioni invites you to dance, to create, to feel your feelings. HEIRARCHY OF WANTS People's Party Productions/ The Zeitgeist Movement We will create a "Heirarchy of Wants" that people can contribute to by writing on our oversized "Heirarchy of Wants" pyramid, which will be laminated paper velcroed to stacked cardboard boxes, built block by block while we play positive, progressive music from our mobile stage. HOOP JAM IN DEWEY SQUARE Boston Hoop Troop Boston Hoop Troop will come out with massive amount of hoops to get the community spinning! This year Boston Hoop Troop will also post pre-figment instructional videos to teach a choreographed hoop dance to the masses & get a large scale group performance piece going SCUL A fleet of chopped bike ships An anti-elite squad of pilots shall be putting themselves and eager participants through a ringer of training modules. THE WINGED REPTILE Enrique Olaya This outdoor site-specific dance performance is a metaphor about human nature and what human history have shown thus far. WAIT A WHILE MaryRose Blandino Performance exploring the use of chance operation and audience participation in a live performance. I assigned numbers to particular movements, tasks, or facial expressions and planted an 'instigator' in the audience to call out a number at random to begin. This inspires other members of the audiences to test the waters and call out numbers as well. WHITENOISE Alexis Convento & Allison Jones A performance art installation, Triangular, white geometric sculptures pepper an open field where dance performance artists inhabit the space. The feeling of an otherworldly silence gives the performers the blank canvas to allow their thoughts, desires, questions and natural forms of expression to find free play.

LIGHT ART
DANCING LIGHTS MUSIC Chris Linder Lights Music is a collaborative dance controlled music and light installation. The piece inverts the traditional relationship between dance and music because in this case, the music dances to you. To fully realize the potential of Lights Music, participants must play together. LASER HARP V2 Drew Van Zandt An aluminum and polycarbonate recreation of a traditional harp, but with lasers instead of strings, reactive lighting, and modifiable sounds. THE ORBITAR Jacob Fenwick, Kate Riegle-van West The Orbitar is a multimedia musical instrument rooted in the art of poi spinning. POWERLINES Michael Dewberry Powerlines is an eight-foot illuminated tensegrity sculpture hanging from a twenty-foot-tall steel tower. During the day, six translucent prisms twist in the wind. After sundown, a thousand lights dance weight lessly in space without visible tether. THE OBSERVATION DECK Erin Cheek The Observation Deck is a functional Newtonian Reflector telescope with a 3D guide to the stars surrounding it. The LED constellation models, sitting atop posts, are placed around the telescope based on their relative place in the sky. VIDEO BLEEP Aurelio Czargb Ramos, Courtney Jane Brown, Ian Lippincott, Jenn Zawadzkas, Jessica Marcus, Jim Ankrom, Melinda Green, Michael Dewberry, Nathan Lachenmyer, Nick Colangelo, Nicole Barron, Rachel Boyce, Russell Azzalina A 360 degree surround-video immersive, interactive mind control bubble.
