The vapour pressure of water is 92.5 mm at 300 K. Calculate V.P. of 1 molal solution of a solute in it.

Ans: PS = 9084 mm 8. A solution containing 30 g of a non-volatile solute in exactly 90 g water has a vapour pressure of 21.85 mm of Hg at 25C. Further 18 g of water is then added to solution, the new vapour pressure becomes 22.15 mm of Hg at 25 C. Calculate Vapour pressure of water at 25C

Ans: P = 23.78 mm 9. Find the molality of a solution containing a non-volatile solute if the vapour pressure is 2% below the vapour pressure of pure water.

Ans: 1.333 10. Calculate the relative lowering in V.P. if 10 g of a solute (m.wt. 100) are dissolved in 180g water.

Ans: 0.0099 11. At 50C the vapour pressure of pure water and ethyl alcohol are 92.5 and 219.9 mm of Hg respectively. If 6 g of non-volatile solute of m.wt. 120 are dissolved in 150 g of each of these solvent, what will be the ratio of relative vapour pressure lowering in two solvents?

Ans: 0.3949 12. Calculate the weight of a non-volatile solute (m.wt. 40), which should be dissolved in 114 g octane to reduce its vapour pressure to 80%.

Ans: 10 g 13. What weight of non-volatile solute, urea (NH2CONH2) needs to be dissolved in 100 g of water, in order to decrease the vapour pressure of water by 25%. What will be the molality of solution.
